I use these for everyday wear. I love the pockets and the ability to pack these for: air travel, backpacking,and car camping. The pants are great in warm to cool weather and dry very quickly; however, they are not good in colder conditions.

Comments about REI Sahara Cargo Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:

I have had these pants for about a year and am reasonably satisfied. I've used them on several hiking/backpacking trips in the western US as well as about 8 weeks in total of geology field work in the western US and the Andes. With the one exception, see below, the pants have been very durable.

The material is pretty lightweight, but still cuts the wind surprisingly well (thought not windproof by any stretch of the imagination). They stay cool in the summer and with a thin base layer underneath are comfortable down to freezing temperatures. As a bonus for anyone doing fieldwork, the side pockets fit a standard hard cover field book perfectly.

My biggest complaint is the fit. The legs are unnecessarily baggy. As a result the pockets can bounce awkwardly, the flap excessively in the wind, and they deteriorate quickly around the ankles:they have already started to rip from abrading against the side of the opposite foot.

Overall I am satisfied, but still room for improvement.
