Comments about REI Camp Dome 6 Tent - Special Buy:
This tent looks great for the price, but it is terrible! I used it one time. We took on some pretty heavy rains, so it was a good test for this tent. It did not hold up. It leaked around the seams of the door and the window. It took on condensation. I think it is just a poor design all around. The bottom of the tent sticks out further then the top of the tent. This wouldn't be bad if the rain fly actually stretches out to cover it, but it doesn't. So the door is fully exposed to the elements, which also lets in rain every time you open it. They have a very small overhang above the door, which is maybe 6 inches sticking out of the tent, and it does absolutely nothing. The bottom line is this tent is poorly designed and does not function well. It also has a hexagonal shape, which makes things a bit difficult. I could have gotten over the shape had the design been well thought out.

Comments about REI Camp Dome 6 Tent - Special Buy:
Well, it was time to take our toddling daughter camping. This thing, while a bit of a beast, was perfect for the 3 of us for some solid car camping. It easily fit a queen size air mattress and a pack n play. Really nothing negative to say about this tent.

Comments about REI Camp Dome 6 Tent - Special Buy:
I have used this product 5 times since purchasing it last month, with my two sons and dog. I have to sent up the tent by myself, and my older son (five year old) has assisted me - so it is very easy to assemble.
With the four of us in the tent it does collect a fair amount of condensation, but the design of the tent works well so that it does not drip down on us. The only issue we have had is opening and closing the zipper, it occassional gets caught on the flap material.
Service and delivery comments:
The tent arrive early in perfect condition.

Went to the UP for Labor Day and hadn't been camping in years. Was so easy to set up, fit a queen-size air mattress and packed up so fast.

Comments about REI Camp Dome 6 Tent - Special Buy:
I haven't *really* used it yet. The day it came I got excited and decided to see if I really could put it up by myself. I'm a 53-yr-old female and 5'8". I am very independent and do not like to go somewhere by myself and have to ask for help for anything. Well I did it and in about 20 mins start to finish I had a tent on my deck. It was getting a little cloudy so I decided to leave it up and see how it did in the rain. As a concession to the weather I did tie off the two tabs on the rainfly to the deckrails, but otherwise it was on its own. Well the rain ended up being a severe thunderstorm with 60+mph winds and a bit of hail to boot. I watched helplessly as my new tent was rolled over on its side, almost flattned, spit on, kicked, and generally beat to heck. This lasted about 45 mins until I was able to get back out there and take it down. Not a pole was broken or bent, the tiedown tabs held, and all told there was about 2 cups of water in the tent. As it was upside down several times I think I'll forgive it. Can't wait to see what it will handle when staked down!

Comments about REI Camp Dome 6 Tent - Special Buy:
I bought this tent as a gift for my girlfriend, as we needed a separate tent from our backpacking tent to take the dogs car camping in the forest. It is nice to be able to stand to get dressed and to stretch. We have used it for camping in Flagstaff Arizona, during monsoons (heavy rainfall, hail, strong winds) and have had no problems with water or wind coming in. I will say that if you open the tent door, water can roll in from the fly awning. We solved this by putting a towel at the door's entrance as a mat. We did not have any other problems with water entering the tent, and noticed that wind does not whip tent material around. All in all it seems to be a stable tent.
We were able to set up this tent fast, though it had a slight learning curve. The tent has adequate air flow, through two large windows, ample space for two people, two dogs, and everyone's' gear. The hexagon shape worked for us as having room for an air mattress in the middle, and dog bed space on each side. Perfect for our family, and so far a great investment for comfort.

We bought this to add car camping to our usual wilderness routine. I was impressed by the relatively lightweight design. The only one in this price range with aluminum poles. Wilderness values in a family tent.

Comments about REI Camp Dome 6 Tent - Special Buy:
After being a solo hiker and camper for years and living in bivvy sacks and 3-man tents, I now needed a large tent for car camping with the family. This tent is east to set up with color-coded pole sleeves, same with applying the fly in relation to door and rear window. My wife and I were pleased to be able to stand fully upright in a tent for the first time in our lives, as the six-foot ceiling gives ample headroom. The footprint is large, and that was what we were looking for as we were able to fit a queen-sized air mattress, a travel pack-and-play for our 10-month old to sleep in, and all our bags, and still have room to walk around without stepping on anything.
The second night we were camping, severe thunderstorms rolled in and this magnificent piece of equipment let nary a drop enter our domain. The seams are sealed well and the fly poles maneuvered all the rain away from the door and rear window. The only thing is it is heavy, as compared to something I would take for solo camping, but it is designed and intended for car camping and the zipper guard on the front door catches the zipper more often than not. This could have been rectified by making everything a little tighter (which you have the option to with two grommets for each pole), but I didn't bother this time.

Comments about REI Camp Dome 6 Tent - Special Buy:
I just returned from a week of camping with my Camp Dome 6 tent in Acadia National Park. Setting up was easy, even with the three pole design. The tent is sturdy, well made and held up well to 30 knot wind gusts. There was a small amount of water that did come into the tent through the door and window during a torrential rain and thunderstorm. Combined with the footprint, overall I stayed dry, nothing leaking through the floor of the tent. The Camp Dome 6 is perfect for 2 adults and maybe a small child. My Maine Byer Military Cot just fit in the center of the tent with plenty of room for a chair. Spacious for one person without being overly huge, it is just the right size for a single camper, I am 5'9" and had plenty of head room. The fly was easy to assemble, the poles easily slid into the sleeves over the door and window and into the grommets on the tent. Overall a great purchase for the money and a well thought out design. A quality REI product, I expect this tent will last for many camping trips in the years to come.
