This is a really cute jacket. I thought it would be heavier and more substantial but it's very light, thin material. It's stylish- not meant for too cold of weather. Even with all that said the color is gorgeous, the design (style) quite nice, the details awesome. I'm actually really impressed with how cute this jacket is I just wish it was more substantial, it's like a shell (no insulation). You would definitely need to wear a long sleeve shirt underneath if you were out on a cold night. So functionality I would say - 3.5 stars. Style-4.7 stars. It did seem a tad big but it could just be because I've lost weight recently. All the same, ridiculously cute jacket.

Wow, super cute casual jacket from REI! And, it IS a CASUAL jacket - which is not a bad thing.
The bad part is the proportions. The waist/tie is unusally high and will probably fit around you ribcage or just under your bust. And the back of the shoulders will be tight. The fabric is nylon - no give to it - so these two issues kept me from purchasing this. Note - I'm short, I'd usually get a Small in REI stuff, a Medium in other brands, but in this jacket Medium was too small and Large didnt fit either.
So, if you're short waisted and narrow-shouldered RUN OUT RIGHT NOW and buy this jacket-you'll probably want to go one size up. You will be very happy. Everyone else, turn away.
I hope REI reads this because I liked the hip size and arm size better than I do on most of REIs stuff - which doesnt fit me well. It made we wonder if they were going for more of a junior size with this style.

I hope REI gives this another try.

This is such a cute jacket... if your short. :( I am 5'8" and tried on a small. Fit nicely except that the sleeves were a touch short and the belt was squarely on my rib cage, not my waist. Didn't look awful, but it felt awkward. So very bummed. But, if you're 5'6" or under, you should check it out!

Was looking for a stylish, versatile urban bicycle commuting jacket that looks good off the bike and doesn't cost $400. I ride about 6 miles to work 1-2 times/week, weather permitting - am not a hard-core cyclist.

I'm small-framed 5'6" and usually wear a 4-6 on top. As other reviewers note, the fit runs extremely small in the shoulders and the belt is absurdly high. I would not have been able to wear much of a layer underneath the small.

However, I did end up exchanging it for a medium and have been generally happy, as it has enough other features I want (including the color - am tired of women's activewear being available only in pastels or "berrylicious" fruit-candy type colors).

Lots of pockets, sturdy two-way zip with smooth action, the snaps are on loops so you can fasten them one-handed (nice!), its a good outer layer and I can easily take it off and roll it up and stash in my bag if I get too warm.

The belt is still too high, and the medium is a bit big on me, but I tie the belt in the back and that helps streamline it a bit. Sleeves and slight drop-tail provide good coverage when riding. I frequently get compliments on it.

BOTTOM LINE: I hope REI gives this one another try and gets the fit dialed in a bit better. More versatile bikewear like this, please!
