    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

    Timex Ironman 50-Lap Sleek Digital Watch - Women'sis rated2.7143out of5by14.
Rated2out of5byfromGreat for everything except swimmingI actually had 2 of this watch - I had one for a couple years and used it all the time for running, lifting, hiking, skiing and HIIT. I wore it in the shower and even swimming a few times without an issue. Then I took it in the ocean one day and it filled with water and died. REI replaced it and gave me a 2nd one. Again, no problems with dry land training but as soon as I went swimming it filled with water (though didn't die). REI took it back again and I won't buy another. It's a bummer because I like all of the functions - timer, countdown, interval timers, etc. and it's easy to use, plus it's not bulky and it looks good for every day wear.

Rated2out of5byfromDisappointing qualityI have owned two of these watches and - while initially hopeful - was disappointed in their quality. I needed a watch that I could use only on outdoor-oriented trips without having to worry about it (this watch was not for every day use). With the first watch, the strap and casing wore out and became oddly mottled after one 2-week trip to a rainforest. With the second watch, for 3 years of infrequent use it held up quite nicely without the strap problems from before. A couple weeks ago, however, for the very first time ever I wore it in a very shallow stretch of sea water, about 18 inches deep. I thought I would be safe with a triathlon watch but when I got out of the water the screen was blank. The watch no longer works. It was clearly not water resistant, despite being advertised as water resistant up to 100 meters. Under the new return policy, REI instructed me to send it to Timex - which has a 1 year warranty that requires proof of purchase. I'm out of luck and disappointed.

Rated4out of5byfromGreat watch, poor band.Bottom line is that this is a great watch, with superb functions, but beware of the watch band. After ~1 year of athletic wear, the band will start to separate from the timepiece. I have tried a variety of different preservation tactics to prevent this from happening, but nothing works. Would I recommend? Yes, with the stipulation that you purchase from somewhere like REI, where, in the event that the band breaks, you can get an exchange.

Rated1out of5byfromLow Quality StrapI've gone through three of these watches and strongly agree with other reviewers that the watch itself is excellent but the strap is terrible. The strap is of such poor quality, it's virtually disposable. And not replaceable. It discolors very quickly, especially after contact with sunscreen and mosquito repellent. It breaks right off the watch. REI: please offer a better alternative in a sleek, classic looking sports watch. Throwing away one still-functioning watch after another just because the strap broke is not the kind of environmental stewardship that I like to support (or that REI seems to support).

Rated2out of5byfromDoesn't lastThis watch was great while it lasted but after a couple years it's useless. After six months the band became discolored and grey. A year later the plastic loop holding the loose end of the strap broke and fell off (I rigged a loop of double-sided Velcro in its place). A few months later the band started cracking beyond repair. Since the band can't be replaced the watch, which is still working, is now useless. Things that were great about it: the functions were easy to figure out and they were quite useful. The indiglo function made the watch easy to use at night; mine still works very well.

Rated4out of5byfromFunctional and slimThis is a good watch for track practice, to keep your laps in order. It does take a bit of time to set all of the intervals on it, so keep that in mind, and try to set them before your workout starts, because it's hard once you're in motion. The split button is great because you can easily hit it while running full speed and then look back at your splits later. The buttons they chose for up and down are a little counter intuitive relative to the older models, so it took some getting used to. Overall a sturdy, reliable watch. I got the neon green too, so it really stands out.

Rated4out of5byfromOnly watch I wearI've only worn these timex Ironman watches for the past 2 years. The lap clocks, alarms, interval timers, etc., make it very convienent whether I'm setting the time on my tea steeping or marking laps around the pool. I confess that I've gone through 2 of these watches and now I'm on my third. I've had previous experience with the quick discloration, stratches, and non-water-resistence. That said, the latest model of the sleek has held up much better than its predeccessors and I haven't experienced any of those previous durability issues.

Rated3out of5byfromSecond one seems to be holding upThe indiglo feature wore out after a couple weeks. Fortunately, REI's customer service is awesome so I was able to exchange it for a new one. Second one seems to be holding up ok, but after having already gone through one I'm not too confident in it.
