The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Kimtah Rain Jacket - Men's:
I needed something for sailing and I wasn't happy with the gear I was seeing elsewhere, mostly due to style (I'm not happy being a walking billboard) and some due to price. The Kimtah jacket ended up being perfect. I had to do a bit of running around to find the size(L)/color(green) I wanted, but it was well worth it.
It's light, breathable, and, best of all, effective at keeping me dry. I was in the harbor just the other day and it was pouring rain as I set to rigging. I kept dry and I wasn't restricted by the jacket; peripheral vision with the hood up is affected, but less than expected.

Used it first time on 4-day hike in Smokies (windy, wet & temps in 40's). Kept me dry with only a little clammy feeling during hard uphill hiking. A definite keeper.

Comments about REI Kimtah Rain Jacket - Men's:
I am a college student without a car and commute 5 miles by Bicycle to work and class nearly everyday. I depend on the jacket to keep me dry and warm and it has never let me down. I'm 6' 140 lbs and I selected a Large. It is too big for me, but it covers me and keeps me dry. If i were to go back I would get a Medium for my size, but the Large is very functional. I do not regret this purchase. Great jacket.

Comments about REI Kimtah Rain Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket to replace my old rain gear that didn't have a hood. So far the jacket has worked great. I always worry about how long the rainprof'ness' will last, though. I coach golf in Washington state and I have used the jacket on many afternoons that were wet, windy, and cold and have really liked it so far.

Comments about REI Kimtah Rain Jacket - Men's:
There was a lot to like about this jacket - good zippers, relatively good fit, good cinching mechanism for hood, excellent visibility even when hood cinched tight, light weight, long enough in the back to wear cycling - but both arms leaked and my jacket underneath was totally wet after a 50 minute hike in the rain.
Design flaw: Waist belt on pack covers pockets.

Comments about REI Kimtah Rain Jacket - Men's:
My first eVent jacket and I am very impressed with both the breathability and the affordability of this jacket. I got it as a gift but obviously kind of know how much it costs and I can't say enough about its breathability. I have been looking at some more ski oriented event jackets and pants from other brands and they are generally a lot more expensive. I'd wondered about the legitimacy of claims about the breathability and this jacket made me a believer. So much so that I might not get anything for winter use because it does not trap in much heat at all. It is light weight but not as lightweight as some less breathable jackets. So now my conundrum is whether to pack this and be a few ounces less comfortable when it is in my pack or take another jacket and be less comfortable when it does rain. I don't think this jacket is trying to be too lightweight so it doesn't really bother me too much but if REI could design another jacket that was more minimalist and very lightweight it would be killer.

First time useing this. I just went up Mt.Si 8 miles total 4 up 4 down with 4000 feet elevation, I like to go fast with a lot of weight. It was raining like it does up here in the pacific north west. I wore a active wear top and my rei kimtah jacket. When I got back to the trail head the jacket was dry, and my top had the usual amount of sweat on it, but not an excessive amount.

Best jacket I've ever owned. When you buy a product sometimes you're disappointed, often you get what you expected, and sometimes you get what you HOPED you'd get. This jacket's performance is everything I hoped for and more.

Comments about REI Kimtah Rain Jacket - Men's:
Have had this parka for a couple of years now. Good for moderate exertion and rain, around town and in the mountains. But the zipper was always tricky to engage and would sometimes come apart at the bottom. This meant a forceful and sometimes damaging zip off to start over again. Now I'm planning a long PCT hike and have decide that I must get a new parka rather than risk a total breakdown of the zipper during the hike.

Comments about REI Kimtah Rain Jacket - Men's:
I purchased the Kimtah men's jacket in black medium. Overall it fit great, and I was excited after really pouring over many products, thinking I had ended my decision.
I was wrong. On the first rainy day I broke out the jacket, I noticed some black spots in the hood right away (not sure how I missed this in store). On further inspection, the jacket had some defects in the hood interior, which at first glance looked like dye inperfections from the black outer coating, but on closer inspection these were defects on the interior coating of the hood. In direct contact with water, sure enough drips formed in the spots showing the imperfection.
I drove 40miles to the only REI retail location available with the medium/black in stock for exchange...and yup, sure enough every medium I looked at had the same type of defect.
Every meduim was defective? Wow REI, really? Sad thing is, neither the retail or online customer service would mail me a replacement from the warehouse, or a retail location, thus the 40mi drive. Although I'm glad I did the drive in the long run, as all black medium jackets appear to be defective.
For over $240 that kind of defect is inexcusable, as well as a refused shipped replacement for a defective product. I dropped another $40 and now have a 4 season mountaineering jacket from another brand (FA) that's guide rated. I suggest you do the same if you plan on wearing a jacket for anything outside rainy in-town days.
I'll be passing on REI brands from now on for actual serious gear, the customer service and QA is just not what it once was.
