Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2012:

This is my first road bike I've ever owned, and so far I have had it for a month and love it! It's super light-weight, compared to any bikes I've owned in the past. I am a 5'8" female in my 20's and was fitted for a medium men's bike. I preferred the look of the male bike over the female version. I'm excited to get on the bike and ride further than 10 miles at a time, that'll be the true test of comfort in the ride.

Great bike for a starter who is interested in racing, but not willing to drop $2k on a road bike. The gears leave something to be desired, but overall it is a fantastic deal for the price!

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2012:

I am not a bike expert, though I list myself as an avid cyclist - I have been avid for two months since I got my Divano. I am an active, 62 year old retiree. I have put 500 miles on the bike, mostly on 20- to 30-mile rides. The Divano rides comfortably and handles nimbly and predictably. The components work as expected. My only complaint is with the saddle. I cannot find a comfortable position. I plan to replace it with a better one soon. All-in-all, however, I love my bike and am very happy with the purchase.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2012:

Don't get me wrong- it's not a bad bike. The components are decent, and the bike rides smoothly. However, it's heavier and slower (more drag) than my specialized road bike which cost me 1/3 as much. Not too impressed with Novara.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2012:

This is my first road bike purchase, so take my input as you see fit.

I compared different brands and varying levels and decided to purchase this bike during the annual sale. Saved a little bit of money, but had planned on it regardless. Comparing the parts to others, for the price, this bike although not "name" brand, had better parts for less.

I've put about 50 miles on it, not many, but no complaints. I did have to take it in for some tweaking so I could shift to the higher gear, but from what I have read, that is to be expected. (I'm just not knowledgeable enough to do it on my own yet)

As stated, first road bike, and I did topple over once. It lossened the brake lever. I took it into the shop and they fixed it relatively quickly and for next to nothing. Plus, they did not make me feel like an idiot for falling.

I ride on average between 40 minutes and an hour and do notice close to the hour mark, that my bottom does start to notice it. I do wear biking shorts, which aids, but I do forsee purchasing a seat in the future. Still, although it is a little uncomfortable, it really is nothing that I absolutely have to replace.

Great bike for the price that I forsee lasting a while and allowing me to develope as a rider.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2012:

I've had this bike for about a month now and I'm fairly pleased with the purchase. I use the bike for commuting (7 miles round trip) and traing for a tri. I think the bike is all-around pretty nice, but the components and shifters just feel cheap. When I commute, downshifting is a pain because it's almost always skipping gears Or getting stuck and then giving you a major shift shock. My first real upgrade will be new components.

Other than that this bike is a pretty solid road bike starter, without killing the checkbook. I probably wouldn't buy it again for curiosity of what else there was out there in the same price range but I definitely would recommend it to a friend who was just getting into cycling.

Be warned, this bike can only be bought online and then must be built in-store. Apparently REI uses 20 different vendors for parts and these bikes get on back order very easily. I ordered mine April 15th, and I took it home May 22nd. Absolutely horrible experience buying a bike from REI and I will never buy another from them, or get any service done other than the free initial tune up.

Comments about Novara Divano Bike - 2012:

I have had my Divano for several years. I consider myself to be a serious but casual rider. I don't ride during the week but try to get 40-50+ miles on the weekends. I have ridden two Century rides and numerous metric centuries on my Divano. The bike has proven to be a great performer. I purchased it using my dividend and took advantage of the 20% off sale. The Divano has proven to be a great value. I brought it in a few times for tune ups and the techs are extremely helpful. This is my 3rd Novara bike and I would definitley recommend them.
