I bought this Fleet and also brought the step up model, Airflyte, and ran in both. See the reviews on Airflyte, which seem right on. The Fleet are a bit heavier, but the light compression works just right for me. There was a tiny bit of chaffing on the first 12 mile run, but I seemed to adjust to it quickly and and it quit. I am hoping it doesn't reappear. I love the pockets - not that I run with stuff in my pockets - it's just taking wallet, phone, keys, etc. to the car to go run, and then wanting to take the same to the coffeehouse after the run makes pockets nice to have. I tried the S and M sizes on twice in the store and could not tell the difference. I always have to try both since I'm a 31 - right smack between small and medium. Bought the medium.

Finally someone gets it! Runners need pockets. The trend lately has been no pockets or pockets barely big enough to fit a gel, much less the wallet, cell phone, keys and the gels that runners need pockets for. My first impression is that this is a heavy short and that could be but it's such a small part of the weight equation I don't think it matters. They are quite comfortable and just the right length for trail running when I want a bit more coverage (poison ivy). Time will tell how these hold up, but they appear to be an excellent trail or around town short.

I love these shorts! The built in compression shorts are nice, but the thing that sets them apart is that you actually have enough pockets!!! I like having two side pockets, but these also give you a second pocket on the left to hold your phone/mp3 player. They are perfect for the gym, running, hiking, pretty much everything.

Excellent fit and very comfortable to run in. I especially like the small zippered pocket near the waistband in the back: a perfect spot to keep my keys while I run. Well designed with great details, you won't be disappointed.

These are some fantastic shorts. The mesh side pocket is perfect for my iPhone while running. Only negative is that they are thicker material shorts and for very hot climates, may require a second thought. However, I feel that it gives it good longevity.

Go with them, you won't be sorry.

Good for wearing to the gym and very limited running.

The thicker, split drawstring is a vast improvement over previous versions of REI's liner workout shorts which had a continuous loop of too-thin cord.

The bad thing is the seam in the compression liner runs right up the middle of the fly/crotch. When running any distance more than simply to warm up, this seam begins to chafe against very sensitive skin. A solid piece front would be much better.

I bought these shorts cause because of the anniversary sale and was very impressed. I usually run in adidas soccer shorts or basketball shorts but was having issues with chafing and such on long runs. After the first run with these I was sold. The built in compression shorts stay in place and are actually pretty comfortable. Also the 4 pockets (one side leg, 2 regular side pockets, and small zip pocket on the back) are well placed and easy to use and they are super light and breathe well.

Probably going to buy a 2nd pair.
