Comments about Celestron TrekGuide Multifunction Weather Tool:
I really like this multi tool function tool, compass. etc. It even has a tiny bevel and that was interesting and works well. I love the light for night time applications, it is very bright in the darkness. I have one big complaint. As far as I can tell you can't turn it off. I looked in the instruction book and you have to remove the battery to turn it off but then you would have to reset everything. So other then that it is pretty cool. I only bought it because it was on sale in one of REI's early member sales for a good low price, otherwise I would not have bought it. Oh, on the right bottom of the screen it displays a cloud with rain drops and does not change, nor can you manually change it. I do not know yet, if this disappears and/or changes when the weather does? I was outside in the sun and it did not change. Will update all of you if that changes or not. I would have given this gadget 5 stars but 4 will do, since there is no on/off button. It just stays on. That will surely wear out the battery fast before I need it.

Comments about Celestron TrekGuide Multifunction Weather Tool:
one button fellout after 2 weeks. Inaccurate, compared it repeatedly to an aneroid altimeter and known altitudes, it was off 100's of feet even when recalibrated. calibration-time set-units all got messed up too easily when the cal button is accidentally pressed such as when in your pocket which is very easy to do. Happened repeatedly to me. Don't buy this thing.

Comments about Celestron TrekGuide Multifunction Weather Tool:
I almost didn't buy this tool due to the bad reviews however, I am really glad I did! I have found it to be very accurate on the elevation, and have used it on about a dozen hikes so far. I don't know how to use all of it's features yet, but the elevation and temperature as well as the compass are all easy to use and very handy.

Comments about Celestron TrekGuide Multifunction Weather Tool:
First of all, getting the battery in and out of this device is a challenge to be avoided at all costs.
Next, not accurate and difficult to adjust for where you are trekking.
Stick with the topo maps, and get a good altimeter if you really need one.
But this device is for the birds.
