The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Maglite XL50 LED Flashlight:
While I have yet to try this in a camping scenario, it has proved to be an excellent blend of compactness and brightness. It fits easily into a purse and is ready to effectively illuminate a walk back to my car after dark.

Comments about Maglite XL50 LED Flashlight:
In general I really like this flashlight. It's plenty bright enough for most uses, even on low mode, and high mode is great for illuminating far away things (like when you can't tell if that's a stump or a bear across the clearing). And it's compact/light enough to slip into a pocket.
My major dislike is that the end cap doesn't require much pressure to turn on. I've had it turn on by accident a few times, and it wastes battery if the light is in the bottom of your bag and you don't notice it.

Bought as Xmas gift for sailboat. Really, really bright for such a small light. PERFECT! Great for dark areas on the boat and much brighter than the engine light in the boat. Small enough to hold in my mouth to see (you know, because I don't think to use my headlamp, duh) so I can use both hands. Plan to buy 2 more - another for the boat and one for my car. Definitely recommended buy for the price.

Comments about Maglite XL50 LED Flashlight:
Let me be the first to say, and warn those who haven't noticed, that this MagLite has a bad PhotoShop job (Or in this case, advertisement picture). At the time of this review, the front page for the MagLite states that it has a rating of 104 lumens, when the picture shows a flashlight with a rating of 145 lumens. To top it off, they both have the same battery time rating, as well. Both of these are a typo, since the flashlight I purchased had a lumen rating of 139 and my battery rating times were different than advertised (I have noticed, however, that even in other stores that the MagLites are the same model in, they have slightly varying specs. You have been informed. :))
Aside from that, the MagLite XL50 is great! I use mine on the job, through all kinds of varying weather, and I have yet to experience a problem with it. The beam is super bright, and low mode will suffice for just about anything you'd need a flashlight for.
The grip is a little slick, and I have seen a lot of reviews that complain about this, but I don't forsee any issues with the housing and a "slipping grip" when in use. The rubberized button, on the bottom, is really sturdy and seems like it will last the lifetime of the flashlight.
The only complaint I have about the XL50 is the adjustable beam. When using a tightly focused beam, the area of light isn't much different than when using the flood beam. As a matter of fact, they're the same. It just seems to diffuse the light area to make the XL50 a little dimmer, and effect the throw. MagLites have done this, in the past, but I think that's worth mentioning. Don't get me wrong, the beam throws really far when focused.
Aside from not having a holster, the XL50 is a pretty solid choice when it comes to flashlights. I would certainly purchase another one as a back-up to my first. :)

Comments about Maglite XL50 LED Flashlight:
I have purchased several of these wonderful lights. O-ring sealed lens and battery/switch cap. Low power burn time is 36 hours. High power is 12 hours. Easy to manipulate with one hand. I bought belt holsters and an anti-roll rubber tips. One goes nearly everywhere on my belt. I put a white arrow label on the battery pack to avoid loading the pack backwards in dim light (might damage the light if you do that). Made in USA. Find the serial number under the lens cap and register it at maginstruments.com for lifetime warranty. Get some silicone grease (not petroleum jelly) to keep the O-rings and threads greased to maintain their waterproof seals. Use it on low for 90% of your needs and batteries will last for months. If you have never carried a good flashlight with you all the time you will be amazed when you do at how many times it comes in handy. Women: keep one in you purse or pack. Men, keep one in your briefcase, pack, or on your belt. Perfect compromise between size and wonderful performance. Very light weight with AAA lithium batteries. Simple, robust, dependable.

Comments about Maglite XL50 LED Flashlight:
I purchased this flashlight a few months ago and have come to love it. As another reviewer mentioned, it uses regular AAA batteries which are cheaper and more commonly available than CR123 lithium batteries that many other LED flashlights use. Despite using only 3 triple A's you get a crazy bright beam that goes a long distance, in a package that fits perfectly in the hand, which can be turned on/off with any gloves or mittens. Great for using around the house or for car camping or to throw in your Essential 10 kit for a day hike.

Comments about Maglite XL50 LED Flashlight:
Very versatile light. The LED in the Maglite is top notch. I have the 2D Battery Maglite with the LED upgrade conversion kit taht was released a year or so ago. This xl50 is brighter. Its seems Maglite made upgrade to there already existing bulbs... Just my opinion. The flast light is sturdy and built to last. This flast light is about the size of a roll of quaters, its fantastic. I use this flastlight for everyday use around the house. Also, I use it when hiking. I use this for the long treach capabilites while at camp or hiking and use the Black Diamond Spot headlamp.
This is a great purchase pick up. I am considering buying one to throw in my car's glove box for emergencies.
