Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KomodoSport LS Multisport Shoes - Men's:
After a weak of getting used to these I fell in love and will never go back to regular shoes again. I used these for everything for the first year, but ran into a couple problems. I kept getting holes in between the first and second toe on the big toe. Usually within the first couple of months which for a $100 plus shoe was not cool, however REI took care of me each time with a replacement. After a bit I came to the conclusion that the toe flexibility combined with the thinner sole of this model meant that when I hiked on the local horse trails, which are very uneven, I was exposing the soft fabric between the toes to the ground. Also, they don't have the best traction on softer, sandier surfaces. As a result I switched to the KSO trek for outdoor activities and use the KMD's exclusivly for my gym shoes. Sine then I could not be happier. They are light wieght which is great for aerobic activities and the thin flat sole is great for deadlifts and squats. Plus, I am not haveing the problems with the holes in the toes. So if your are looking for something to use in the gym or for everyday walking these are great, but if you want something for walking or running outdoors on uneven dirt trails I would go with something like the KSO trek for it's more aggressive tread pattern and stiffer toes.

I bought these because I'm planning a thru-hike next year, and I had heard that they can improve foot and leg strength and balance. I don't know if my feet are any stronger, but these have become my go-to shoes. I like walking around barefoot, and these are the next best thing. Hopefully, they'll also hulk-out my toes and flat arches so I can hike for months on end without much trouble.
I've only noticed one problem with fit: these shoes are excellent at reminding me to cut my toenails. If they get even a little bit long, my big toes feel cramped. I guess that's to be expected with shoes that are really just a second skin (as well as poor arch support, which is a moot point with my flat feet), so I'm not worried about it.

I just wore out my third pair of Bikila LS so I decided to try the KomodoSport LS. They're totally worth the extra $20. I've put over a hundred miles on them with no noticable wear. You get just a little more support too. I'll be buying these again.

I use these shoes exclusively, having thrown away all of my other shoes after experiencing these. I would like to say, for running, I was told to get the shoe that fits the SMALLER of my two feet so that my foot does not slide; but I only wear five fingers now exclusively to walk in and they have been a godsend. I only wish they made a pair AS SHOES, that is with SINGLE COLORS, not using running patterns and neon highlights.
Also, I like the lacing system. The drawstring allows me to adjust the fit PERFECTLY each time. And on the velco pair I have, just pull and attach--how simple life can be!

This shoe is great and I would recommend it to everyone. The only con is the inserts tend to move and become uncomfortable so I removed them. Thats it, I suggest you get a pair.

I have worn these shoes now for 8 and 12 hour shifts where I'm on my feet at least 75% of the time in a hospital with hard floors. I've also taken several long walks outdoors on various types of terrain. I was after the barefoot feel, which is exactly what I got, except that my feet didn't feel sharp points (rocks, etc) when I stepped on them. The only thing I was not crazy about was the color; I would have preferred all black. Also, I haven't worn them with socks yet and they're doing awesome!

Great shoe to wear while doing hikes, trail runs, beach runs, etc. Very comfortable, very light. Gives you the bare-foot feel with a little support and grip. Easy to clean after a day at the tidepools or a hike in the redwoods. Caution: build up your endurance with them as you are going to be working different muscle groups. Do not go hardcore too fast and slowly work your way into the coolest shoes you will own.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KomodoSport LS Multisport Shoes - Men's:
These are great shoes, but know what you're getting yourself in to. Running in these will force you to develop a lot of muscles in your feet that you didn't know existed, and likely some muscles around your achilles and lower calf. In short, they provide no stability or arch support at all, basically, and the onus is on your muscles to provide such support for you.
If this sounds scary, well, this is actually a good thing, because if (and this is a big if) you take it slow you'll develop such muscles and find you didn't need all that extra cushioning and weight associated with more traditional running shoes. If you don't, however, you're very likely to injure yourself, so don't be the typical American and try to be a rockstar right out of the door.
My recommendation: walk with them a few miles and see how your feet feel the next day. Then try jogging a mile and see how your feet feel. Then maybe run a couple of miles and see how you feel, etc. If at any point you feel joint or bone-related pain (and not just some muscle soreness), back off! You're going to injure yourself because your muscles and tendons aren't quite there yet to provide the support you need. If you feel a lot of soreness in muscles that you didn't quite realize you had, well, voila, the shoes are doing their job, and you're getting the benefits of barefoot running.
Another benefit: these shoes will force you to have good form when running (avoid heel strikes, etc.), as otherwise you'll find running will not be a comfortable experience.
The shoes are very comfortable, though they are a little creepy looking to most people while you're moving around in them. I'm very happy with the purchase, but do know what you're getting yourself in to....

Being diabetic I have tenderfeet. These shoes are comfortable, I use them in the gym, I use them when doing yoga, or walking around a swimming pool or beach. I find them comfortable and very stable in all my efforts. This is my 2nd pair and I still have and use my 1st pair, just rotate them out for washing.
