I got my wife this vest so that she would quit borrowing mine and it did the trick. She is always cold, but doesn't complain when she's wearing the vest. She even wore it skiing with just a shell over it, and was comfortable. Highly recommended.

I bought the men's version of the North Face vest and wore it to my daughter's home during Christmas. When she saw it, she commented that I was "cool" and stylish. It seems that people wear these things as a sort of fashion statement. She told me she would like to have one, but could not afford to buy it. So I surprised her by ordering one from REI and had it delivered to her house. She is thrilled with it! She sent a picture of her wearing it and I think she looks "cool" in her stylish new vest. The vest is quite warm and comfortable. She will use it for years to come. I suppose she will get more pleasure from it than I will, but I got a lot of pleasure from giving my daughter such a gift.

This vest is an old standby of mine - it's super comfortable and is basically my favorite piece of fall/spring clothing. It's really too bulky to do any sort of serious lightweight hiking, but is perfectly suited to day hikes, car camping, and short backpacking trips that don't demand a lot of weightloss. The collar has some fleece, or flocked fabric on the inside, that is buttery soft around the neck.
I've yet to have a serious problem with this vest, although it suffers from feather loss like so many other down products of any nature. If the fabric is soft enough (like this vest), eventually you'll have a few down feathers poking through. I can't say that I particuarly fault North Face for this, as it's not endemic to their brand. It would be cool, however, if they could somehow fix that problem.
Overall, this vest is pretty darn solid and I would certainly buy it again should anything happen to mine.
