Overall these tights are a good option for cold weather activities. I have worn them recently on trail runs in the snow and my legs have felt warm and comfortable. The only negative that I see is with the design of the drawstring. I bought a Large which fits great around my legs and thighs but is loose on the waist. The drawstring isn't what I expected and the tights feel a little sloppy around my waist. I don't like them as much as my UnderArmour tights but they work well when the other ones are waiting to be washed!

These tights are perfect for my predawn runs when it's 40 degrees or below. I was afraid I would heat up too much wearing tights but the REI Airflytes keep me nice and warm at the beginning of the run without overheating me later on. They fit well and with running shorts over them I don't look like a ballet dancer. Now I can't use the "it's too cold" excuse with myself, and I'm going to buy a second pair.

I'm a southern guy living further north, and I do not take kindly to the cold. I've played sports all my life and wanted a way to get in some running without torturing myself due to weather.
I use these tights between 20 and 30 degrees (never tried much colder). They are soft, breathe easily, and most important are surprisingly warm. I have to make sure I hike them up and tie the drawstring so the tops don't ride low on my hips, but they stay in place just fine during my ~45 minute runs. I'm happy with my purchase.

I bought two pairs and will buy a third before the sale ends. These are the first tights I ever owned, after several years of running, and I wish I had bought them earlier. They keep my legs warm, but not overly so. I have so far tested them only by themselves in temps around 40 degrees fahrenheit, but I presume they would work well as a base layer in colder weather. They have worked for me in rain and dry weather.
One sizing note: I wear 32 length jeans and the legs on these tights leave about 1/2 inch of my ankle exposed when I wear extra-low socks.
