Comments about REI Windbrake Thermal Fleece Jacket - Men's:

I've bought two versions of this windbrake fleece jacket. The original was back in '04 -- & I got a second one just because the first wasn't 'dressy' enough. My original is WindPro PolarTec fleece. The second one is now 2 years old and still looks great. It has a sewn in lining with interiro pouch pockets (convenient). Neither of my versions have the (current) vertical zip chest pocket.
Not the thinnest/most flexible fleece but folds flat OK, packs well, and is light. Neither is it bulky.
I was tempted to buy a third when I saw them on sale most recently. I've bought versions for my sister and my daughter.

So far so good. Just got this jacket. Have'nt had it up in the high country yet, but I bet it preforms well. Have had it on bike rides and it definitly cut OFF the wind. Not for mild temps. too warm.

I wanted a new fleece jacket, but I'm very particular about things like this. I looked for several months, and liked the REI Windbreak. Although it is cheaper than some of the other brands, I still thought it was a bit pricey. I got it for a gift, so the price ended up not being a factor! ;-)

I can't stop wearing it. It's perfect around the house/office/outside. It's been very windy lately and the jacket lives up to its name.

I might buy a few more, because at this point my biggest concern is that I'll wear out the one I have!

I first wore it just casually out and about. I wore it under my winter jacket and felt warm. I took my coat off and still felt warm. This jacket does as advertised. I love wearing this. I love the pattern on the inside too a different design for sure. There is also a dog in my house and i was very suprised that this jacket seemed to be dog hair proof. I petted my dog who sheds more then any dog should and a VERY little amount of hair stayed to my jacket. I love this jacket and all REI products.

In all fairness, I've only had this jacket one day, so it only got a mini test. I work in and commute to San Francisco near the water so there's almost always wind and (now) rain and I'm often outside walking or waiting for my bus. I needed something that keeps me warm, looks good and can handle a fair amount of urban abuse. The test got started the same day the jacket arrived as we got some light rain and a fair amount of wind and it handled both very well. It's going to be a long, cold, wet and windy winter so I'm hoping this jacket stands up. So far it looks promising. Price was good too.
