by fromChoose others Since there are so many great merino products out there (Icebreaker, Ibex, I/O Bio, Patagonia), I'd pass this one by. First, the merino is okay (lightweight) but nothing special or luxurious. Second, I found the sleeves to be long, although my arms are slightly short so if yours are long you might be happy with this. It felt a little roomy in the chest also (I'll admit that I have no, repeat, no chest, but I think most people want a merino layer to be close fitting). Finally, it's constructed with panels pieced together along the sides and I found the seams to be annoying. I don't know if they would actually cause damage, but a merino layer should feel soft and comforting. You shouldn't notice it. So I think REI needs to go back to the drawing board with this one.

by fromPerfect for Price I went snowboarding and snowshoeing in Whistler for 2 days and wore a polyester underlayer, this hoodie, and my fleece-lined softshell. The hoodie was warm enough to replace two other long-sleeved underayers that I usually wear (because I'm the leanest piece of meat around) and I didn't find any problems with breathability even while working hard hiking or splitboarding in the backcountry. Regarding the fit, I wear a size small and the torso was nicely snug around my chest and abdomen. The shirt was slightly long in the sleeves and torso, but I'm not the biggest guy, and I thought the long sleeves were a bonus when pulling layers over the hoodie and sleeves tend to be dragged up. I forgot I was wearing the hoodie after a while.

by fromI like mine Received as a gift but it pairs very well with my Minus33 and Ibex merino gear for my winter biking needs. The sleeves are very long which is great for a biker. I was able to pull the cuffs over my mittens and they stayed there throughout a 30 mile ride. Being able to keep the wrist warm goes along way to keeping the hand warm so I consider this a plus. The lightweight hood is also nice as it gives me complete cover over my neck while not adding to much additional bulk under my helmet. To be honest the fabric is a bit heavier than my other Merino wool products but really feels just as soft.

by fromA decent athletic cut hoodie Pretty nice wool for the price. Soft, seems well made. At nearly half price it's a very good deal. At full price it would still be nice. Fit is fairly athletic. Fits about the same as a cycling jersey of the same size which is what I wanted. If you want something looser you may want to size up or find something different.

by fromGreat piece of clothing I own wool clothing fron Nau, Swobo, Rapha, Patagonia, and this ranks right up there with them. Actually, this is the first piece I have purchased from REI in many years. And I got all three colors at full price. The wool is thicker than some, but just as soft. The zipper is high quality, the hood has a great cut. The seams complained about in the other review are there, but do not bother me a bit. I sized down for a slim fit. I highly recommend this hoodie.

by fromBest wool shirt. Best wool shirt I have found in years. This shirt has a great feel, just like Smartwool but has a hood. I got two the other day but I want five more.
