Comments about REI Neo Jacket - Men's:
This jacket stands up to anything outside of steady or hard rain. Great for cutting through the wind and keeping you warm while biking around town in spring and fall. With little to no breeze it will work for 40 degrees and up. With a nice mid-layer it'll be toasty down to 30, if not lower. Took it to Europe for a couple weeks in the spring and hardly ever took it off.
The cut is semi-athletic; not boxy, but not trim either. I'm 6'2" with a small frame and it's rare that a large top will fit this well. Usually the chest is too big. Not so the Neo. Stylish, comfortable...It's all I'll wear until the temps start dropping mid-Nov here in Minnesota.

Comments about REI Neo Jacket - Men's:
I started looking for a soft shell jacket last year and compared North Face, Mountain Hardware, Patagonia and Arc'teryx when I stumbled across the REI's Neo Jacket. I was surprised at the quality and feel of the jacket plus I was impressed with the price which was much less then the next cheapest jacket but appeared to be just as well made as some of the higher end brands. I ended up buying the Neo and never regretted it. I wore the jacket throughout the winter and found it more windproof then expected when biking around town in the snow. When I wore it hiking it was comfortable and breathable enough that I never took it off.
I bought the Neo before Christmas last year and replaced it with this years version due to weight loss. One thing I like about the newer version is the adjustable cuffs. The only other noticeable difference was one less chest pocket which I can live without. I was also impressed with as much as I wore last year's version how well it held up and when comparing it to the brand new version. It's starting to turn cold here and so far it's the only jacket I've worn.

Most jackets are too much. This one is perfect for a primarily urban environment and could work on a trail as well.

Comments about REI Neo Jacket - Men's:
I have owned Marmot Gravity, LL Bean Pathfinder, Patagonia Boilerplate, patagonia windwall, north face apex stuff and Columbia. In my opinion this soft-shell, for the money is better than all of them. This jacket is as well-made as all of the brands mentioned above and better made than some. And this jacket has more features, e.g. inside pockets, and wrist closures. As an added bonus the logo is very subdued, so I don't have to be a walking billboard. Finally found a great three season everyday jacket.

Comments about REI Neo Jacket - Men's:
I bought my Neo jacket in winter 2005. It stood up to Wisconsin winters (urban wear, snowboarding, and tubing). Now living in SWVa, and it's all I need for the coldest winter days. This is the longest-lived jacket I've owned, and it still looks like I just bought it today.
It's also the most versatile jacket I own. Throw it on over a cotton shirt for a casual day in the Fall or Spring. Sizing is also just roomy enough to wear over a warm midlayer for an active day in the 20-30 degree range.
If this one ever wears out (which I doubt), I'll definitely be getting another one!

The interior headset port could be a bit more well designed. Requires care but isn't too bothersome. Very comfortable to wear. The color options are ok, they cover the basics. Map/Document pockets are useful, the depth is a plus.Sizing is decent to add layers on top and underneath. Basically the soft-shell i was looking for. Semper Fi

Comments about REI Neo Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket just before a 2 day hike on the AT from Carver's Gap NC to Highway 19E in January. Temperatures started at 19 degrees F the first day and ranged from 21F to 10F. I used this jacket at my outer layer most of the trip. (I would put on my REI kimtah rainjacket during the windier portions of the hike because of its hood). This jacket kept the wind and snow out. The exterior fabric is durable and broke the branches it snagged on rather than ripping. This plus 1 or 2 thermal layers was all i needed to stay warm while hiking.
About the "con":
My REI Kimtah rain jacket and REI Windbreak Thermal Fleece jacket both have a newer type of velcro that doesn't isn't as abrasive, and seems to be heartier. The velcro on the sleeve cuffs of this jacket just has "classic" velco on it. Not I big deal, I just prefer the newer type of velcro.

My wife bought this for me for Christmas. I was a bit leary since it seemed to be a thinner weight coat but boy, have I been proven wrong.
Very comfortable down to 35 degrees. Fit is great, material seems to hold up well. Lots of pockets. Highly recommended.

Comments about REI Neo Jacket - Men's:
I've used this jacket from hiking in the Smokies during windy weather, as my main outer layer during spring ski season in the Central Rockies, and for night fly fishing near Crested Butte, Colorado during the summer.
I love to wear this in any weather, and the waterproof feature works great for pop-up showers and skiing in mild weather.
After a camping/fishing trip in Ozark N.F. in Northern Arkansas, I had forgot my rain shell. Luckily, I had this jacket with me, and coupled with a big hat, I stayed dry as a bone all weekend.
The soft outer shell never fades and has retained it's waterproofing for me for 2 solid years and continuous wear and use.
I LOVE the huge, unzippered, deep pocket on the inside of the jacket. Great for quickly stashing things, such as a sub for lunch.

Comments about REI Neo Jacket - Men's:
Nice for an everyday jacket. It is very windproof, but still a little too thin for a very cold weather. It is warm enough to wear out on the town at night, and compact enough so that when you bring it inside to a restaurant it isn't bulky. Also it has a clean looking exterior without many pockets so it's a little classier than other more technical gear.
