Comments about Spenco 2nd Skin Blister Pads - Package of 5:

How I use it: When I get a cut or a blister and need to run, these are a must. I had a chunk of skin missing from the middle of the ball of my foot. Just flexing made it burn. One of these pads protected the whole, helped it heal, and stopped the raw skin from flexing and cracking.

Whats great: Protects blisters before they pop. Seals and protects the holes after they pop. Works as a second skin, helps reduce the hurt. Stayed on and kept the water out for a whole mud run race (wet shoe and sock over 4 miles). The BandAid capsule version sometimes sticks/melts to my sock, these don't.

Whats not so great: They could stay on better. Wear a sock to stop carpet from rubbing them off your feet. Stays on fine while running, just not as good barefoot. They are expensive ... but I was limping with pain before I put them on for my race ... my foot felt great ... I would pay twice as much for them after that.

Comments about Spenco 2nd Skin Blister Pads - Package of 5:

PREVENTATIVE. I use these on my trouble spots *before* starting a backpacking trip. They stick and stay in place much, much better than name-brand "advanced healing blister bandages" or their generic equivalents, which I've also tried. (--Although after I return, those healing bandages are the absolute best for getting my blister wounds to breathe and heal faster than I've ever seen before.)

AFTER-THE-FACT. If I get a blister, these do as good a job as any bandage can do to protect and pad the sore blister. And they stay in place so they can do their job better than any other solution I've tried to date.

WHAT I WISH I LIKED BETTER. Funny...I actually like the soothing feel of Spenco's Blister Kits better, because they use their 2nd Skin Moist Pad, and these pads really feel great on your blister. But in the past (admittedly, far past--like, 10 years ago), I was never able to keep the Moist Pad in place for more than a half-hour of hiking. Maybe their latest kits that use their Adhesive Knit do a better job. But the Knit is not the same-looking adhesive material as the thin, clear film on the outsides of their blister pads, and I *can* say from personal experience that the clear film *does* keep the blister pads in place for a number of hours of hiking.

EXPENSIVE, BUT WORTH IT. There are only five pads in a box (you can see the price), and I like to bring six/day (three/foot/day). That's over a box per day. But when you get a blister, or in order to prevent a blister, it's worth it. I have a lot more gear that's a lot more expensive, but none if it can help me with bliters! This is the best solution I've found so far. 5 stars even though they are expensive.
