Comments about Diamondback Menona Hybrid Bike - Special Buy:
The bike rode well when it was performing correctly. It is my version of a cruiser and I enjoyed riding it. The disc brakes were nothing but trouble. If I hit a bump in the road, one of the brakes would rub/drag and I would have to stop and re-align the tire. Or, the brakes would squeek going around corners. The bike was too heavy for my taste; not responsive enough. I did like the way the bike looked and the overall feel of it while cruising. For the price, this bike does not compare to what I can get in a local bike shop.
Service and delivery comments:
The local REI gets low marks for service. This is true for the store and the bike shop. In the store, it was difficult to get advice about which bike to choose and a very poor selection. The bike shop was uninterested in ensuring that the bike was set up correctly for me. When I rode it away from the shop, it was poorly tuned. When I brought it back for the 100 mile tune-up, there was no improvement.

Comments about Diamondback Menona Hybrid Bike - Special Buy:
With a 20% off coupon the price of the Menona was quite a deal. A 19" fit my 5'11" perfectly. I did not like the super wide handlebars. They were swapped for narrower bars with more backsweep. Comfort was night and day. Disc brakes are overkill and add weight and complexity. I was hoping to lose them but the frame has no v brake bosses. I noticed the brakes required some adjustment to keep from rubbing. Disc brakes make rack mounting more problematic but there are always spacers or disc specific racks. Stem is clunky but can be swapped for any threadless stem. Most hybrid/ comfort bikes use the outdated threaded headset.
Saddle is okay for a stock seat. Solid mid level components that work but can be easily upgraded. Wheels have stayed true so far. Tires are quiet at speed. The grips are actually very ergonomic. The Menona is a bit slow but it is comfortable and would be fine for casual/town riding, commuting, or family biking. At the price I paid the Menona is a great choice considering other brands cost more and offer lower level parts.

Comments about Diamondback Menona Hybrid Bike - Special Buy:
The bikes is better than the one i was riding, but not as good as I had hoped for.Had a flat tire within a week,so I put a Slime tube on rear to replace original. The seat is not very comfy,I will be looking for a new one.The front Disc brake grates,i will have the folks at REI check it when it goes for it's tuneup.I do lke the way it sits you in a more upright position.Over all I would say I like the Bike, but i don't "Love It".

Comments about Diamondback Menona Hybrid Bike - Special Buy:
Bought this for weekend bike rides. This is a good looking bike with decent components, such as disc brakes, threadless headset, and puncture resistence tires. Although disc brake is an overkill and adds weight, it's really a bonus for a bike at this price point. Gear shifter is also smooth. This bike is definitely lighter than mountain bikes, but still feels heavy when you want it to go fast. The toughest part is putting the quick release front wheel back. Really need to squeeze the brake while trying to re-install the front wheel to avoid mis-alignment of the disc brakes. Otherwise, it will either drag the wheel or squeak during the ride. All in all, it's a decent bike at the sub-400'ish range.
