The REI Spruce Run jacket is a story in versatility. On a cold morning, start off with the full jacket, then, as the day warms, remove the hood and sleeves and use it as a core-warming vest.

  • Spruce Run works well as a stand-alone jacket in dry conditions or layers comfortably underneath a shell in wet weather; at night it makes a great pillow in its stuff sack
  • Pertex® Microlight Eco ripstop nylon shell and lining are lightweight and durable, and offer silky softness that enhances the insulation's loft; windproof to 50 mph
  • Insulated with high-performance, water-resistant PrimaLoft® Eco synthetic microfiber to provide soft, non-bulky warmth for very little weight
  • Hypoallergenic Eco fibers come from recycled plastic bottles
  • Sleeves zip off to convert jacket to a vest; fully-adjustable hood zips off to save weight
  • Keep track of the hood and sleeves by stashing them inside the interior zip lumbar pocket; this pocket also doubles as a stuff sack and makes a nice pillow in a pinch
  • Windflap backs front zipper; chin guard protects against zipper abrasion
  • Features a hem drawcord; cuff-edge gaskets reduce wind entry
  • REI Spruce Run jacket features zip handwarmer pockets and a zippered interior pocket with headphone port
  • REI Spruce Run jacket is trim fitting and allows a full range of motion

REI Spruce Run Jacket - Men'sis rated4.7692out of5by13.
Rated5out of5byfromExcellent jacketThis jacket is very versatile. The sleeves unzip and come off so if the day starts out cold and warms up, you can convert to a vest in no time at all. I use it for golf on days were it begins cold then warms up. The fit it perfect, and the detachable hood is a plus. Very nice product at a very reasonable sale price.

Rated5out of5byfromGreat for what it isThis is a great, and versitile jacket. I purchased it mainly for travel because its light, warm and stylish, but it still rugged enough to be warn on an adventure.

Rated5out of5byfromBang for you BuckThis jacket has PrimaLoft which is an alternative to down which was important to me because I try to buy shoes/clothing that have minimal animal products. It turns out that PrimaLoft is actually better at keeping your warm and its waterproof in comparison to feathers/down. I paid less than $100 dollars and is the best warm jacket I have owned.

Rated5out of5byfromAwesomeMost versatile jacket I have ever owned. REI needs to make more of these types of clothing options.

Rated5out of5byfromWarm and comfortableMy previous Spruce Run is now too large for me. I bought this to give me a slightly more snug fit. The fit is good for my frame 6'1" 175lbs. Still a little generous in the stomach, but that is handy when I want to stuff the pockets. It has been a warm winter so far but we had a cool period recently (8F) and I found myself very comfortable walking with a cotton (casual) polo, Polartec fleece and this jacket. I look forward to trying the coat snowshoeing a 14er this winter. The previous model worked just fine.

Rated4out of5byfromLight yet warm and smart fitSince long time I was looking for a jacket which will server in winter and which will also protect against light rain. However most of the times I could find ones which were wither very puffy/heavy or too expensive (>150$). This one is light yet very warm and its smart fit. it doesnt feel plasicy yet its water repellant. I am using it since last couple ofmonth and so far i dont have any complaints

Rated5out of5byfromGreat All Around JacketThis is a great all around jacket!!! I wanted both a vest and a jacket but as a recent college graduate, couldn't afford both. I found this jacket and couldn't be happier! It's a stylish jacket with concleaed zippers that can transform between a vest, a jacket or a jacket with a hood (definitely does not look like the old nerdy zip off pants thought). It's got a great athletic fit and is really warm. I use it everywhere from around my house to as a mid-layer while skiing in zero degree weather. It's also great for traveling/backpacking since it folds up in a small storage sack built into the back. My one suggestion for improvement to REI would be to relocate the zipper of the storage sack to the bottom of the jacket's hem. It can be a little uncomfortable on the back if you're sitting down, but this is a very minor issue that shouldn't deter you. Just a simple suggestion to improve a great product. Overall a great product that I'm completely satisfied with!!!

Rated4out of5byfromGreat lightweight Jacket.Bought this jacket on 1/2 price sale and so glad i did. Got it to layer under a Berghaus Goretex parka for added warmth vs a fleece liner. Nice and light weight windproof and water resistant and packs down well. Very useful zipper pockets everywhere. The arms and hood can be stowed in a storage pocket in the back. Sheds light rain though i would not trust it for heavier weather. Had it a few months now for 30s-40s weather and it is my jacekt of choice- much more so than a fleece. Its warm with just a light shirt in mid 30s when walking- add a thin fleece layer underneath and im quite warm even in the 20s when active. Havent had chance to see how it stands up to colder weather. Im 5-8 and the arms are a tad long but all in all very happy with the buy
