Comments about REI Spruce Run Jacket - Men's:
The first test I gave this jacket was hiking Mt Belford this past weekend. I can say that with 20 degree weather on the summit with 40 mph winds, I was toasty warm with just this jacket and a under armor shirt on underneath. I had brought a rain jacket for wind protection and a fleece for extra warmth and both stayed in my backpack the entire day. I highly recommend this jacket.

Comments about REI Spruce Run Jacket - Men's:
I have used this jacket in freezing rain/ rain/ snow mix and it did real well to keep me warm and dry as I ran from the car into the store. I have used it camping as well and it breathes really well.
I love its ability to stop wind. It is a very functional with the ability to zip and stow sleeves and hood.

Comments about REI Spruce Run Jacket - Men's:
I purchased this jacket to replace an old winter jacket that I've worn for many years. So far the Spruce Run Jacket has been great. It's kept me warm all winter! The best thing about this jacket is the hood and both sleeve can be detach. You can wear it as a vest.

Was given to my husky brother who works early in the mornings. He was impressed with the level of warmth and water resistance despite how light and thin it appears. This jacket won me the fav sister spot.

Comments about REI Spruce Run Jacket - Men's:
This jacket is SO close to being perfect, except for one glaring flaw: the inside of the jacket has a zippered pouch that allows you to pack the entire thing into a small, self-contained bag. The problem is that the zipper is located right in your lumbar support area, so sitting in the car, in a chair, or anything with a back rest can mean having a tiny zipper pull-tab or "slider" sticking right into your back. I don't plan on packing this very often, so this just makes the jacket uncomfortable to wear. I hope that the next version inverts the pouch so the zipper is towards the bottom of the back rather than right in the middle. Too bad. REI so seldom overlooks these details...

Best jacket I own. I ride in 20-30F daily and remain warm and unrestricted in this jacket. Great wind protection! It is very comfortable. Reasonable protection in light rain/snow conditions.

Comments about REI Spruce Run Jacket - Men's:
I wear this as an everyday jacket. I was pleasently surprised by the amount of warmth captured and wind blocked by this very lightweight jacket.
The hood strings could be made easier to use. You can't really tighten the hood with one hand, you need two hands to do it because of the way it is secured.

Comments about REI Spruce Run Jacket - Men's:
This is a GREAT concept: primaloft jacket with removable sleeves and hood. Makes the perfect universal jacket. Rolls up in its own pouch. Keep the vest in small day bag as a backup when skiing. Remove hood for daily city wear. Awesome. Too bad the cut is off. The arm holes are way too tight/narrow. Had to buy a large, which is way too big. That single flaw, throws the whole jacket off. Still worth buying, tho'.

Comments about REI Spruce Run Jacket - Men's:
This jacket is very warm, sheds water well, and blocks the wind. It comfy around the neck - seals well there and at the cuffs. I'm pleased with the pockets and hood.
I haven't had the jacket very long but wanted to highlight two features that weren't apparent to me when I ordered it. There are mildly elastic fabric cuffs in the sleeves, and an interior zippered pocket on the right. Of course there's the left pocket with the headphone pass-through and the interior zippered lumbar pocket for storing the hood or whatever.
The jacket is *very* warm indoors so if you have to frequently transition between a warm building and the outdoors I would choose something else.
I can't speak to it's durability or breath-ability yet - still a little scared to take my new jacket through the brush. But I will as soon as I need the warmth plus wind/rain protection.
Thank goodness no one else wanted the blue color so REI had to knock the price down. I got a GREAT COAT for a very good price!

Comments about REI Spruce Run Jacket - Men's:
Was looking for a good all around convertible jacket and it fits the bill. Just wish it was a bit warmer and maybe down to make it lighter. I'm using it double duty for hiking when real cold and around town...My girlfriend has same jacket and she says it is not warm enough for her but she is usually on the cold side.
