Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Mystique 1.0 Tent - Special Buy:

I was looking for a solo tent that could easily fit on my rear rack and this one fit the bill. It is compact enough to fit into my panniers if needed and the low weight doesn't slow me down.

The first time I used it, we had a storm in the middle of the night with high winds, but I had no issues with water entering the tent. This tent gives a decent amount of space as well. I'm 5'10" and had enough room to store some gear in the tent with me at my feet and on either side.

Overall, I'm happy with it and I am excited to continue using it.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Mystique 1.0 Tent - Special Buy:

I'm a value driven purchaser and for the price this tent provided just that. I bought the tent to use on my bike trip on the Pacific Coast Bike Route and weight and space were my primary concerns when I decided to purchase this tent. The tent does set up relatively easy, but it's not a 'freestanding' tent which means it does require you to stake it to the ground for it to properly work. Which usually isn't a problem, but if you're in a spot with hard or rocky soil it can be troublesome and take a little longer to set up. I especially liked the rain fly, it was easy to attach to the tent and with the added vestibule space you can store shoes or a small to medium sized bag out of the elements. I'm 6'2" and I had plenty of room to stretch out comfortably, but didn't have any extra room to store any gear inside with me. Again, the vestibule proved valuable for me. Crawling in and out of the tent feet first was kinda of pain especially if you're a little sore and tired from a long day. The tent did well in the rain and dried out quickly. It packed down to a manageable size and the weight can be reduced even further if you replace all the aluminum stakes(which there are quite a few)with lighter plastic ones. The material held up well, but I highly recommend using a footprint like a tarp as this tent does not include one and will definitely prolong the life span of this tent.

Great tent, slept well, good venting system helps keep condensation down, even had room for the dog and gear when I propped my feet on my bag.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Mystique 1.0 Tent - Special Buy:

I needed a tent that was within budget, lightweight, & small enough to fit in my back pack for hiking the Appalachian Trail. This tent is it! I am 5'10" & had plenty of room. A pad, blanket, & my backpack all fit inside with me. The only problem is my own OCD of needing my feet to face the door, so my head was in a tiny space! Set up and tear down were about 5 min each. The instructions are waterproof but not really needed it's so easy. In the rain I stayed dry without a footprint.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Mystique 1.0 Tent - Special Buy:

I purchased this tent 2 years ago and have used it several times on pack trips in the high Rockies. It appears to be resistant to rain and wind as there is no evidence of deterioration. It took a few trips for me to become accustomed to the smaller size of this tent even though it is roomy compared to other brands of single person tents. Well worth the money!

I picked up this tent to use for bicycle touring or kayak camping. First time I took it out it rained all day and we had wind gust up to 30mph. The tent stayed very dry and in place. I am very happy with this purchase. I'm 5'4" so there was plenty of room for me and some gear inside the tent.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Mystique 1.0 Tent - Special Buy:

I haven't used this on the trail yet. The dimensions listed for the footprint of this tent are a bit misleading. Both the door end of the tent and the foot end slope in considerably. I am 6'2" and with my feet making contact with the foot of the tent, my head just touches the door end. In other words, it's not terribly long. Also, It's short enough that I cannot sit up straight in the tent. However, for the relatively low price and relatively light weight, it might work out OK, for a solo trip. It would be very claustrophic to get caught in for an extended period of time due to inclement weather. The vestibule is big enough for a pair of boots but little else. Cooking under the vestibule would not be remotely feasible. It seems to set up easily.
