Comments about Deuter Futura 32 Pack:
I bought this pack for day hikes, Randonnee and single night camp outs. 32L is considered larger than a day hike pack, but I wanted the flexibility to carry extra gear or food. I like how flat this pack can synch down when empty. The lower section has a divider which can be zipped open. It comes w/ a rain fly. The side pockets hold a large water bottle and the top pouch is big on volume. Zippers travel in straight lines or very wide arches; I have no prob opening / closing pockets w/ one hand. The hip belt fits my frame great. The mesh back helps keep things cool and dry. The shoulder straps fit great too. The straps, buckles and adjusters hold tight and are easy to use / adjust. The fabric feels top quality, nice mix of textures, the color pops and has a great design.
I have not had a bad experience w/ this pack, nor have I got anything to complain about. I did my home work and this was a great option for my day hiking / Randonnee needs.

Comments about Deuter Futura 32 Pack:
Very comfortable, works well with my 3L Camelbak bladder. The bag shape is narrow/long so there is really not that much room in there after putting in a bladder - but plenty of room in general for day hikes. Bottom access zipper works well for gloves etc.

Comments about Deuter Futura 32 Pack:
To put my review in perspective, I am 53 and just recently starting pursuing outdoor recreation. I like the mental and physical challenge of finding my way in unfamiliar territory. Right now I am mostly doing day hikes covering 6-8 miles, heading off trail to prepare a hot lunch and setting up a temporary tarp shelter. Generally I carry 15-20 lbs; I have no idea yet how hikers get the whole load so light.
I have found that the Futura carries this weight with no difficulty at all. The frame does a great job of transferring the weight to my hips. Before getting this pack, I used a smaller North Face that my kids used for school. This difference between carrying a load from your shoulders and your hips is amazing. When I go off trail I have not noticed the bag shifting at all, nor does it affect my sense of balance. I've worked my way up and down some pretty steep slopes and the backpack is almost unnoticeable.
One feature I really liked was the suspension that allows air to circulate across my back. My back would get very sweaty carrying the North Face bag. The downside to this suspension is that the shape impacts how gear can be loaded into the main compartment because of the convex frame. For now, the ventilated back far outweighs the space impact.
The side zipped pockets also load inward into the main compartment; if you stuff the side pockets, you are reducing the available volume of the main compartment. Having said that, the side pockets make it easier to access your gear so you don't have to unpack the main compartment. The bottom compartment seems to be designed for a small sleeping bag. Right now, I just keep some rain gear and a set of gloves in there. When the bag is full, the zipper to that compartment can be a little tough to operate.
The outside of the bag has elastic loops that are probably designed for carrying trekking poles. I use them to carry one of the small tripod camp stools also available at REI. At my age, no fun in sitting on the ground.
For what I've been doing, this bag has been excellent. My goal sometime this year is to go off the grid for 3 days. This is not the bag for that trip unless I learn how to pack much better. But for day hikes, I'm really enjoying this backpack.

Comments about Deuter Futura 32 Pack:
A well-made pack for 2-day hikes or longer minimalist travel. A bit large to use as a daypack, unless you are carrying for two people, in which case it would be perfect. Some like the mesh back, others don't. If you like a loose fit in the shoulders it will sway side to side a bit when you walk. Very secure with a more snug fit. I used it for the past 2 days in 95+ heat, and my back did stay dry. Under the shoulder straps and waist belt were soaked, as would be with any pack. If you like lots of pockets, it doesnt get any better, in my opinion. If you are an ultralighter who likes a "plastic grocery bag with straps", it is not for you. If you like top loaders with a place to put everything, this is it. I give it a 4.5 only because I think the pocket on the hip belt needs to be a bit bigger, and I miss the organization/small gadget pocket on my last pack. Picky, I know.

Comments about Deuter Futura 32 Pack:
I got this pack for long day hikes, 12 to 20 miles once or twice a week is my average. I was looking for something that could take enough stuff, but not carrying the big pack. No need for a tent and sleeping bag. I carry treats and water for the dog, plus extra food and water for others who come along or I run across - also, full emergency medical equipment (never know what you come across). This bag is perfect for all that, plus has room for an extra article or two of clothing if conditions call for it - and, I can put my DSLR in its small padded bag with an extra lens, all in the main compartment. The pack is just like a big pack, fully adjustable. It rides so well that I had to move the bear bell to the front shoulder strap where I attach my sweat towel. The bell was hanging off the back, but the pack rides so well that there was no ringing. If you are a serious day hiker and getting out there beyond the heavily trafficked 3-5 mile trails, then this is the pack for you. It will look bigger when compared to others in the store, but rides well and you will not feel the difference. Oh, it does have a compartment for a water bladder, the waterline easily comes out the top and around to the shoulder straps. Also, the mesh frame against your back is super comfortable, none of that cold rush of a sweat ladened shirt when you put your pack back on after a trail stop.

I use this pack for day hikes. It fits great and has great air circulation across your back. Only complaint, wish you could stow trekking poles without removing the pack.

Seen a lot of people with this bag. Good for one rope and maybe your harness. Has a lot of nice small pockets for keys, phone, snacks.

Comments about Deuter Futura 32 Pack:
I bought this bag to take with me on my move to SE Asia. I knew I would be taking a lot of weekend trips and needed a good carry-on size pack. This bag is great for that purpose. I guess you could say I am a flash packer as I pack light and for short jaunts (3-10 days usually, sometimes longer). I even manage to squeeze my laptop in sometimes (13 in. macbook pro in a neoprene sleeve). I have found that if you pack it right you can get plenty of clothes in it. I find that the separate bottom pouch is great for packing an extra pair of shoes. The pack is also quite comfortable. I particularly like the design and how the pack literally floats off of your back allowing your back to remain cool especially where I am at. I also wear it riding scooters for long distances from time to time with minimal discomfort. I highly recommend this pack.

Comments about Deuter Futura 32 Pack:
I have the previous version of this pack which is pretty much the same. I used it recently for day hikes in Zion and have to say it was great. The pack was very comfortable while carrying 7kg of load. The meshed back provided great ventilation and kept my back dry (I sweat a LOT). The bag has a lot of compartments to keep the small stuffs handy. The thing that I can complain about is the size, it doesn't feel like a 32L pack, perhaps the arch takes away some space, but still.
