Comments about The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's:
I bought this jacket with my REI dividend two years ago, and haven't looked back since. It's roomy enough that you can layer it with a softshell or a sweater. I live in Portland, OR, so this jacket has seen a lot of action with all the rain we get here.
This jacket is great for everyday use (walking to and from work), but I also pack it on every camping and hiking trip I take--it can be packed up into a very small area of your pack, and it's so lightweight that you would never notice it. You would notice it if you encountered rain though!
When I wear it hiking, the pit zips are a nice touch, because this coat really is windproof. I managed to rip a small hole in one of the pockets (they're mesh), so I'm looking to eventually buy another one just so I can avoid losing things out of that pocket, but I'm going to get another Venture jacket--it's perfect, comes in a bunch of different colors, and the price is pretty unbeatable!

Comments about The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's:
I don't understand why this is "award winning." I was looking for an economical rain jacket, but after wearing this one for two years of dog walking, bike commuting, and field work I've come to dred the days I have to wear it. I'm 5'10" and it feels boxy--like a midriff jacket that I can fit another person inside of. My biggest complaint is it's not rainproof-ness. Even when it was brand-new, rain rolls down my outer sleeve and up inside to my forearm (not sure how/why). After getting it wet, if I need to go out again it feels really wet inside when I put it back on. Now that I've had it for 2 years (things should last, we don't need to fill up the landfill with disposable rainjackets!) the inner seal is visibly breaking down, especially at the back of the neck.

Comments about The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's:
This jacket is very stylish and, I assume, would also be good in the rain. It feels very comfortable with enough room in it for layering. It is also lightweight, which is important to me. However, as much as I like the looks and fit, I am returning it because it is super "noisy". Every move I make is heard all over! Can't have that when I'm trying to watch wild animals in Africa! If that is something which doesn't bother you, go ahead and get it... very nice looking!

This is a nice jacket with good features, but I didn't like the way it fit as well as others when trying it on at the store. This one hits at the waist (not the hip) and is more boxy, not form fitting. I bought the PreCip jacket by Marmot instead (it's the same price).

Comments about The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's:
I got this coat to wear casually. I live in the rainy Northwest, so I wanted something that was light-weight and waterproof. This coat fits nice with room to wear a sweatshirt underneath. The hood is big, and has a visor and can adjust. If I were to change one thing about this coat, I would make it a couple inches longer, but otherwise, it has served me wonderfully and is now my favorite jacket that I wear every day.

This jacket is great! I bought it for myself with an REI giftcard given to me for my birthday and am I glad I did. I have been looking for a rain jacket for lighter days when sailing on Lake Michigan and I found it. The jacket can be layered with fleece or a sweater/sweatshirt and still is roomy and comfy. Plenty of cinching to keep the wind out. Usually North Face runs a bit small but this jacket ran true to size. Nice big pockets too and I love the pit zip feature when you get too hot. Great buy.

Comments about The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's:
I love this jacket! Form, function, and style all get an A+. My only disappointment is that it does NOT work with the North Face Zip-In system. I have two other North Face fleece jackets (that are both "zip-in compatible") that I was planning on zipping into the shell to wear together during colder weather. The zipper pull on this shell, however, is on the wrong side and won't allow the liners to be attached. I can still wear a fleece jacket underneath the shell - I just have to wear them as two separate jackets instead of one.

Comments about The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's:
Where has this jacket been all of my life? I am 5'9 and busty, so finding a jacket that fits me was tough. I tried on every model of wind shell that REI had, and nothing fit. Except this one.
It fits perfectly, with plenty of room to move and layer. I use this now any time I'm outside, whether I'm running to the store or going hiking for the day. If it's cold or I'm on the motorcycle, I wear this over a fleece or a light athletic jacket, and I'm perfectly warm.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where the summers are only slightly warmer than the winters. It gets cold, foggy, and wet quite often. This jacket has basically replaced my small collection of light athletic jackets. It is light enough to wear on warm sunny days and tough enough to protect me in a downpour.
I like the extended bill of the hood to help keep water out of my face and I love how sturdy the attachment points are. I did not have to waterproof it before wearing, though I will soon anyway. Yes it is a bit noisy and a little crispy, but it fitted like a glove the first time I put it on out of the package. I was concerned that the velcro at the wrists would not be sturdy enough and would start to pull away from the tabs, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well they have held up. I treat my clothes gently but I don't have to worry about this jacket.
In all, worth every penny, and while I expect a long useful life out of this jacket, I would buy a replacement without hesitation.

Comments about The North Face Venture Jacket - Women's:
I researched a lot before buying this. I lived in rainy, northern California and am a field biologist, so I needed good rain gear. It stands up okay to mists and light rain, but is cowardly when real storms come through.
No one else seems to have problems with there's, so I guess its just not supposed to go through what I want to use it for. Its fine for walking from your car to the store etc.

I wear the product on rainy and windy days over my clothing. This jacket doesn't provide much warmth but will protect you from these conditions. It with go with most of what I'm wearing since it is simply an outer-shell.
