Comments about Vasque Taku GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
I bought these based on my previous positive experience with Vasque hiking boots. Unlike my previous Italian-made Vasques, the Taku is made in China. I hike and backpack about 20 miles each weekend over hilly and rocky trails, but I am not particularly hard on boots, especially those designed for hiking.
My first pair of Takus lasted about three months before the toe cap started coming off. As I liked the comfort of the boot, I retuned them for another pair. Three months later, the shank in the left boot broke. I then returned them for a pair of Asolos, which have been brilliant so far.
This boot may be fine for casual, occasional day hikes on wooded paths with no load, but there are much better choices available for the serious hiker and backpacker.

Great boot out of the box! not a single blister ever, even with 45+ lb pack on multiday trips. good support and very comfy even on steep downhill steps with a big pack. great ankle support too even on rocky uneven trails. very light and a vibram sole to boot!

What an awesome boot, I purchased this boot the day before my turkey hunt in northern New Mexico. I was not sure how my flat were going to handle a new boot, but to my surprise my new Vasque felt like I owned them for years. I hiked over 20 miles that day and my feet felt great, the Vasque has great ankle support and good traction.

I use it for work...
They keep me worm and dry, but the rubber around the front peels after some good use.

Great shoes! I climb 14ers in these boots and the protect my feet from all the arid climates at 14,000 feet as well as the swampy conditions below. Love them!

Comments about Vasque Taku GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
These boots are great. My foot doesn't slide too far forward and my heels don't rub. The ankle support is much greater than other boots I tried, yet they still seem relatively light. The grip is amazing! Ive only taken these bad boys out on about four hikes so far, so I'm not sure how the rubber at the toe will hold up over the long run. All-in-all I am very happy with the boot I choose to purchase.

I just want to chime in because I know how hard it can be to get the perfect pair of hiking/backpacking boots. I'm in my second season with these and I absolutely love them. They are amazingly comfortable and stable. The waterproofing is excellent, and allows you to walk through streams and snow without worry. Even on super steep hikes, there is no heel rubbing. Super great boots.

I bought this boot for a water proof hiking boot. Problem is it looks so great I deciced to use it as going out dress boot. They run a little large. I normally wear a 10.5, but ended up settling on 10.0. I found a less expensive, lighter weight water proof boot for hiking...

Comments about Vasque Taku GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
I originally bought a pair of Zamberlan boots from Rei online, but when they arrived I was shocked at how stiff and uncomfortable they were. I thought maybe they just needed time to break in.. But I took them my REI store, and their shoe specialist told me that shoes need to be comfortable from the get-go, and suggested these Vasque boots. Immediately, they were comforable, and required no break-in period.
I am a lady, but I have size 10.5 feet, and the women's version of this shoe only comes in 10 and 11. So I go the men's 9.5. Perfect!

Comments about Vasque Taku GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
Boots are very comfortable, BUT, after less than 20 hours of wear in a desert enviorment in Afghanistan the rubber toe guard started coming apart from the leather boot, which allows water and dirt to get into the boot. I've seen this problem listed within other comments so these boots definitely have issues. Hopefully I won't have a problem returning them and getting a pair of boots that will hold up to a dusty, mainly dry, occasional wet environment.
