    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. by fromGreat, Big, Tent I like the tent a lot, but I'm a disappointed in the way the fly ends up fitting. It seems to distort the tent's stand.

by fromReally nice tent Great Liesure camping family tent. Roomy and can probably hold a king size matress. Does not come with the right amount of guy ropes !, alo could do with more built in tent roll ties when you need to roll back and entrance or part of the fly.

by fromGood but a few puzzles Only used this once so far - easy to set up (had to do it quickly in a gap in the rain), huge and plenty of useful storage pockets. Would have been better if it had shipped with more stakes. I purchased the footprint as well and was glad I did. I'm still puzzled about the way the top poles end - maybe I'm missing something but it didn't look right - also it could benefit from having more coverage over the main entrance - wasn't an issue with the Garage attached but without it you're a bit exposed getting in/out of that side. Overall I'm happy with it.

by fromGreat family tent Comfortably fits a queen size air mattress and two pack&plays for the twins to sleep in. Great ventilation and stays dry in stormy weather. The garage vestibule is a really nice addition. A little more space and place to take off wet clothes before coming into the main tent. It's up in the backyard now for the kids to play in and everyone that sees it wants one.

by fromGreat Tent, But Not A Warm One. This is a follow up review after using it for a "long" weekend. I just got back from camping in the Shenandoah National Forest. Yes I was there when the big storm came through. The tent made it through the first night with winds around 40 mph. The problem was that the wind blew the rain under the rain fly and got my feet wet. We left the area to go to DC the next day and when we returned (after discovering that the road was flooded and we had to drive 2 hours around the mountain, much excitement) the tent had been leveled by the 60 mph winds that came through that day. One guy line had ripped out and one pole broke. Two poles bent badly, but we were able to get the tent back up and it lasted two more days with 20 mph winds. I would say overall that this is a great tent, but it is so long and tall that it is vulnerable to heavy winds. However with proper guy line setup it can withstand quite a lot. The Rain fly and waterproof door do there job well, no rain leaked through. I do wish that the screened portion wasn't so big. If the fly lifts up at all rain will get in, so be sure to fasten it down and not out. Also this tent does not hold the heat in well due to the large screen potion. I could feel the wind wipping around in the tent all night long. It was around 30 to 35 degrees F outside and about the same in the tent. I had to sleep with a hat on. If standing up is not important, then get a shorter tent. I have to say that the heigth is the only true downfall. We like to stand up when getting dressed due to bad backs. So I will most likley get another one of these. I also think that the 8 person version is stronger than the 6 person version due to the extra pole.

by fromAnother great REI tent This is the second REI tent we've purchased. Our first was "Taj 3" which served us well, but we've had to moved up because we now camp with two dogs (a 90 lb Ridgeback, and a 45 lb Border Collie) and like sleeping on an big air mattress. Obviously it got quite crowded in the Taj. So, prior to purchasing the Kingdom 8, I too did some "cost control" research and found what I thought was a great deal at a "Big Box" store. The old adage "You get what you pay for.." still rings in my ear. One moderate rainfall revealed seam leaks and design faults that led to it's early retirement (one camping trip). One feature I did like though was the inclusion of a "Power Port", which allowed the insertion of an electric cord through the corner of the tent. As we are now using a queen-size "Aerobed", it was nice to be able to pump it up if needed, without having to run a cord back into the tent through a doorway. I'm hoping I'll be able to feed it through the "backdoor" without creating a potential leak. Oddly enough, the port was one of the only places it didn't leak. I like the fact that the K/8 is a modified "Quonset Hut" design yielding full height throughout most of the length of the tent. Pocket placement is excellent, and overall construction the best. At present, we've only set it up in the garage, but the setup was a breeze, and the repack was also easy. I'll give a follow-up after our first trip.

by fromNorwegian mountains! A great tent! Good quality, easy to set up and very comfortable. A little too heavy for long hikes with a pack, but great for short trips in family-friendly terrain. Spacious enough if the weather is bad and the kids love it! We went up in the mountains the previous day and found ourselves a place at a beautiful lake and camped there for the night. Kingdom 8 works great as a base camp for a family with three adventurous children and a dog. Thank you REI!

by fromA Palatial Tent So glad I finally got my Kingdom 8. I haven't yet camped in it, but we set it up to check out the size and features. I was slightly overwhelmed at the size. It is probably twice the size of our old tent (a 6 person). I think it is due to the height. This tent has a ton of features with all of the inside pockets, dividing wall and the pull out vestibule on the rainfly. The only thing I do wish it had is a specific hole for the electric cord. That will end up having to be run through the back door (one ammenity I have to have). The setup went okay (a little cramped in the garage) and I wish there had been a few more instructions and better pictures/diagrams. It took us about an hour the first time. (But we only have experience with one previous tent.) Cudos to those people that can put it up by themselves in 15 minutes!! :) The footprint (or tarp) is a must because the floor seems pretty thin. But I like that is feels more like fabric rather than plastic. I just hope it holds up well with use. All in all I am pleased with this purchase. It seems like once its staked down everywhere it will be secure and sturdy. I cannot wait to try it out!
