REI Connect Tech Garage
The REI Connect Tech Garage is much more than a simple vestibule. This pole-supported, dual-door/dual-awning garage provides sun and weather protection, extends storage and expands entry/exit points.
- REI Connect Tech Garage is compatible with 2011 Hobitat 4, 6 and Kingdom 8 tents and 2012 Kingdom 4, 6 and 8 tents (all sold separately) which feature a Connect Tech zipper
- Adds 56.1 sq. ft. of vestibule space; dimensions are 100 x 80 in.
- Provides convenient, weatherproof storage and entry and exit
- Doors can be poled out (tent poles and trekking poles sold separately) to create awnings
- Doors can also be rolled all the way up, half way up or diagonally half way up and secured
- Made from durable, waterproof polyester which sags less than nylon during weather fluctuations
- Connect Tech Garage attaches securely to tent via Connect Tech zipper
- Includes storage/carry sack and 4 stakes

This is a must for me and my wife in our Hobitat 4. We sleep on a tall queen air mattress and the garage gives us much needed space for our bags, cooler, changing area etc. We bought the extra poles to extend the fly, but have only used them once on a really sunny day at a campsite with little shade. We usually just roll the flaps up. The garage is a great place to put your cooler/chairs/firewood if you leave your site for a day hike.
This is definitely worth it if you have a compatible tent.

So I bought the CTG over the winter to go with my Kingdom 4. I just went camping with it for the first time and thought I would add some photo's in use and stuff like that.
It went up the first time, no problem, no instructions. It goes up easier with 2 people but could be done by one. Once up you can choose to guy it out if needed, we were along side a massive lake and was quite windy, so I opted to do so just in case.
The interior was the perfect amount of extra room for your gear/toys/etc...I did buy 2 of the optional REI 6ft Tarp Poles to open one side up like an awning. Love it! At night you can drop the poles and zip it shut with everything inside.
I would also like to add that the 6ft tarp poles fit inside the CTG carry bag, and that the TCG is very proportional to the K4.
Great investment, and really completes the Kingdom tents. You will not be disappointed.

I'll add my 5 stars to everyone else. REI has a homerun with this product. I got the last available campsite at one of the camps at Zion Nat'l Park and the website stated there was NO SHADE at our spot. I got this to provide some shade during the day and a spot to put our stuff so it's not just sitting out in the open.
It was pretty windy off and on the entire time we were there (20mph gusts according to nat'l weather service) and the garage held up wonderfully. I had it staked and guyed out the awning held up by 2 poles. It did shake a bit but it never collapsed or shifted. It was a great place to cook breakfast one windy morning when being out in the wind would have blown out my stove and tossed my pots around. It provided enough space for 2 coolers, the REI packnprep, a stove and 2 chairs (one being a recliner) and some room to stretch out.
2 people at the campground who had REI tents came by to check it out between wind gusts and said they were going to buy the garage when they got home after hearing our raving reviews.
I do wish that either, A) REI included poles to create an awning; or B) sold less expensive extendable poles. I bought two sturdy 7' poles from [a well known competitor] for less than the price of one pole from REI. No dings on my rating for this simply because REI does state that poles are not included.
Great buy, no regrets.

Unfortunately when I purchased this item, it wasn't indicated which tents it would work with, but rather that it would work with the Kingdom tents. I see now that the item description has been updated, which is good. However, it wasn't so good late on a Friday night camp out when I was trying to connect this for the first time to my Kingdom 6 2011 :). Shame on me for making that the first time to try it.

Great addition to REI Kingdom tents. Be careful though, this will make a Kingdom 8 tent quite massive. Perfect for a Kingdom 6, gives just enough extra space. Beware, it is not very tall on the inside, and if you plan on putting chairs or tables under it, they would need to be lower to the ground.

Everyone is right - if you have a compatible tent get this. Just buy it at the same time... you will want it. It is very useful rain or shine.
The nitpick - yes, REI you should have included one more stake and a guyline for the top. I used reflective cord on mine since this is the one you will be tripping on in the dark... I know.

With the fly not covering the entire Kingdom 6, I was drawn to the Connect Tech Garage. Though kind of put off by the name (garage), I was primarily interested in the complete coverage of my tent. It attached easily and included the same quality stakes as the tent. And as I'm getting older (read stiffer) it still makes an easy opening. With the awning held open by trekking poles and guys (neither included with the garage) then it's a shady place to relax.

If you have the kingdome 6 then the garage is well worth the investment. It adds a large amount of space to throw in all your firewood, chairs, bags, to keep them dry and in easy reach. Suggest that you purchase a tarp to act as a "floor" inside the garage. We love that at night we can just fold up the chairs and throw them in there so we don't have to lug to the car or have them get wet with dew. However, you need to understand that the garage will only work on very large sites. For example, it was too big (in fact our Kingdome 6 barely fit) on sites in Mt. Rainier and Kalaloch in WA state. For several other places, we could make it fit, but the garage would not be on the main tent pad area so it might be on a diff. level, etc. You need to be creative with the set-up and staking. If you want to pitch out the fly you need to purchase extra poles. We haven't done that since we just roll it up. Overall, it is worth the money and highly recommended (for the sites that are big enough - check your tent pad size if you are reserving sites on-line). If you live in a rainy area it is even more recommended as you can set up a cook area inside.
