REI Passage 2 Tent is rated 4.4493 out of 5 by 69.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Awesome I didn't want to review this until I'd had the tent in the rain and finally I had the chance to see if it would hold up... and hold up it did. A few weekends ago there happened to be a major thunder and lightening storm complete with a pretty massive downpour. The rain was enough to make the entire area around me into a series of puddles and even managed to splash water up under the fly (the fly could be a bit better for this... it doesn't go all the way to the ground completely but then again this isn't a four season tent so I wouldn't really expect it to). I kept expecting the tent to leak at least a little or show some signs of damp in the corners or where gear touched the sides of the tent and for the first few hours I kept checking... it was loud enough and early enough that I wasn't sleeping anyway, but there was absolutely nothing, not a spot of wet in the tent at all. When I took the tent down several days later I realized that some water had made a small puddle between the ground tarp and the tent (it was a massive downpour) and yet the tent had never leaked at all. I am really impressed. Again, the fly is great but in a massive downpour water can splash up under the fly so don't leave anything out there in those conditions that you don't mind getting wet or damp. As with any two person tent there isn't going to be room for two people, your dog, your backpacks, etc etc but there was plenty of room for two people, clothes, and even motorcycle helmets and gear, especially since we could shove stuff up against the walls without worry that the tent would leak. The tent isn't the lightest thing on the market but for the price it's a great weight. If you're car camping or need to spend more time in a tent during lots of downpours get something that's bigger (the rule is a three person tent is for two people and their gear with comfort... there aren't a ton of three person groups running around out there!). If you need a tent for mostly good weather but want something that will hold up to nasty weather when you need it to this is the tent for you. I'm far more impressed with this tent than I expected to be. Absolutely awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Product In the past two years I used this tent many dozens of times in all four seasons. In that time, I've hauled it about 3,000 miles on my bicycle, sometimes strapped to handle bars, sometimes packed in a trailer. I've camped with just the fly, just the tent, and with the tent and fly. It's endured rain and snow and zero temperatures and never let me down. This is best piece of camping equipment I've ever owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5-star tent!!! My girlfriend and I recently used the rei passage 2 tent to camp on the beach this summer. It is a great tent for the price point; super lightweight, easy to set-up/breakdown and we even fit a queen size inflatable mattress inside which made it very comfortable too. Durable, well made and rei brand quality you can trust. We look forward to using the passage 2 for years to come.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tent I have taken this tent on two backpacking trips in the Three Sisters Wilderness so far and it has worked great. The first trip it was pouring for three days straight with big gust of wind. It held up great and kept me dry. Second trip was snow camping when it was clear and cold. The wind gusts on the second night were so strong it folded the tent over but it stood back up. I was at tree line in late October so I was using it more like a four season tent. Over all it is a great tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fit for a King I bought this tent from one of the REI 'Garage Sales' they put on for members. That being said, it was literally brand new when I bought it. Aside from the "X" they mark everything with I would never have guessed someone had used it before me. I bought the tent to use for bike camping. It fits in a rear pannier nicely. I have used it several times over the years in all types of weather, once in the snow. I use this tent for myself even though it is rated for two people. I am 6'2". I like the extra room for myself and my gear, and for those days when the weather confines you to your tent for shelter. I do not feel that this tent is heavy for my purposes but, for those who say a con of this tent is its' weight, go buy an ultralight tent. Why would you buy this tent if weight is such an issue? I have never had any issue with leakage, windy conditions, or setup. This is a great tent and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an easy setup tent made from high quality materials. Once again, thanks, REI.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tent Took this backcountry camping in the Guadalupe Mountains. Camped one night at the "Peak Campground" which is about 700 feet lower and a mile hike from the actual peak. Had winds in excess of 50MPH. At one point the tent deformed so much that the ceiling of the tent nearly hit me in the face, pretty intense. I was extremely surprised the tent poles did not snap. I told myself if the tent survived this I would write an excellent review so here it is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Tent Purchased this tent to replace an old dome tent I'd used for the past ten years. I wish I'd replaced it sooner, as this REI tent is wonderful! Easiest tent setup I've ever seen. The tent poles are nicely constructed and the tent material is of good quality. Very cozy inside, just enough room for me, my dog, and my gear to fit inside comfortably. Will fit two people, but with less gear room inside. Having an entry on either side is a nice bonus. And the tent is very nice and airy with the rain fly off. My only complaint is the cheap tent stakes that come with it. One bent on the first outting, so I'm replacing them with sturdier (and lighter) MSR Ground Hog stakes instead. But cheap aluminum stakes are pretty much the standard stock equipment with any tent, so it's not a big deal to replace. All in all, this is a great tent at a reasonable price. Might not have all the bells and whistles that a more expensive tent might have, but it's a good buy and I highly recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome tent Purchased this tent on 9-4-12. I have used this tent five or six times now. The main reason I wanted to comment is the very first time I used this was for three days of constant rain. No wind or storm, just constant light to medium rain. I was very pleased everything in the tent stayed dry. A couple weeks ago my girlfriend and I backpacked on the Ozark Highlands Trail for the weekend. I knew the forcast called for some weather so I was sure to use all the wind or storm tie-outs (whatever you call them) on the rain fly. Sure enough about two in the morning it was an absolute MONSOON!! Thunder, lightning, 40-50 mph wind and several inches of rain. The tent shuddered and shook like crazy. I held my hands up against the tent expecting it to come down around me for about an hour. Not to worry. I was amazed that the tent held its ground. Obviously there was a some spray that came in under the rain fly due to the strong wind but not enough to worry about. Fast set-up. Very waterproof. Very sturdy. If your backpacking with a friend and share the weight of the tent its less than three pounds per person for a bombproof shelter. My two pound tarp tent costs twice as much and is very sturdy in the wind but Im sure I would have been fairly wet that night if I had brought it instead. Very pleased with this tent.
