Comments about Mountain Hardwear Matterhorn Convertible Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I love the high quality material, it is certainly a mountain hard wear pair of pants. Only down fall is the short front and back pockets. I really like the zip up side pockets for security and it is very comfortable. I really would like to see these type of pants in cargo style with deeper pockets.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Matterhorn Convertible Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
While relatively pricey, these pants are by far the best pair of convertibles I own. They are very rugged, yet lightweight and breathe really well. The added bonus for me are the small zip pockets below the normal hand pockets- they are great for small items you might carry such as a headlamp or light snacks. I love the fit- relaxed yet not too loose fitting. These are my go-to pant on any hike I do where the temps are not going to be below 30. HIGHLY recommended!!!

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Matterhorn Convertible Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
My favorite pants, extremely comfortable, water resistant, great pockets, and look fairly clean for convertible cargos.
Only thing I'm not sure what to do with is the ankle cinch. There's a cord there, but not sure how / why to tighten it.
I'm 5'9" 155lbs with a 29" waste and Small fits perfectly.
I wish they made a non-convertible pair that had a bit higher / neater back pockets and they'd be the perfect travel pants.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Matterhorn Convertible Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
SHORT: I really wanted to like these pants. On top of realizing I don't really use convertible pants since I like to hike with full coverage, these pants weigh considerably more than the rest. Fit is ok at best and you can't really use them as casual wear. One step up from Columbia (which owns the brand). They will be retired. 3 stars.
LONG: Recently went on a 3 week long hiking/travel trip around NZ. All pants were used for both long day hiking (e.g Tongariro Alpine Crossing- 19.4K) and casual wear, but no overnight camping.
I purchased 5 different pairs of technical pants from REI. This is a comparison review because I always find those the most helpful.
Arc'teryx Perimeter Pants - Men's 32" Inseam
Fantastic lightweight pants. This was the only one that I purchased in a different color when I returned because they are so well made and light. Very well fitting and a joy to wear. I wear them at work all the time. 5 Stars (will be purchasing the last color as well)
Columbia Cool Creek Pants - Men's 32" Inseam
OK pant overall but a bit *cheap* No additional pockets and my wallet sits uncomfortably in the back pocket due to the mesh lining of the pockets. I would not buy again and will be retiring them. 2 Stars.

Marmot Scree Pants - Men's Regular
An oddly likable pant. The zippered ankles create a thinner leg line and help keep the pants in place. Very stretchy material makes for a super comfortable fit. Zippered pockets and additional zippered cargo are very good though the main pocket angle could be better. Lighter than Mountain Hardwear but heavier than Arc'teryx. My fave after the Arc'teryx. 4 Stars.
prAna Stretch Zion Pants - Men's 32" Inseam
A really great pant, but the color, fit and use is duplicated by the Arc'teryx. The cargo pocket is low left and has two zippers for entry (top and side) and I feel is bit too low. Nice light weight probably a shy more than the Arc'teryx. Would probably note buy again due to duplication but like them but will retire. 4 stars.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Matterhorn Convertible Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
This is to add to my previous comment: The vertical zipper does not meet the horizontal leg zipper, leaving a leg tube at the top of the lower leg section. The section does not remove as a flat piece of cloth. Zip open both zippers and you still have a tube 6" long without enough diameter to fit over any boot used for hiking.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Matterhorn Convertible Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I agree with the pros and cons of other previous reviews, but must add that no hiking boot except the lightest and smallest will fit through the leg space even with the lower legs removed. The claim that the zippers are high enough to allow boot removal may be true, but the diameter of the remaining upper leg is far too narrow. If this is no concern, I recommend these convertibles.

Great for regular rainy days, good on the waist but too long on the length. Other than that great product.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Matterhorn Convertible Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
just got these and they look great, however upon putting these on i found that there is no leg room. lifting my knee to a 90* angle causes the pants to be uncomfortably tight, if worn with long underwear it would be even more so. the lengh and waist are right on but seems like they were cutting back on material when they made the legs. I bought these hoping for a little extra leg room as the picture implied.
the next problem was that the pockets are not even deep enough to put my whole hand inside and the crotch area has no package room its tight and flat across the front.
