Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 40 + 10 Pack:

Used as a day pack for Kilimanjaro. Usually most backpacks hurt my back, but not this one! Was adjustable, easy to throw on your back and stable. Used it hiking 7-8 hours a day and barely felt it on - even though I have 4 liters of waters and heavy camera equipment.

Perfect for any day hike or extended adventure.

Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 40 + 10 Pack:

I wanted to replace my tried and true (used and abused) REI ultralight unisex pack (1st gen.). I am not a minimalist freak and enjoy some creature comforts, but I don't believe packs need to be heavy nor large to accomplish this. I initially tried a women's specific Osprey - another brand I have used for years - but the shoulder straps rubbed my collarbone raw :( Never experienced that before, especially with a relatively light load. I seem to be between sizes and could not get it to fit correctly. Same with the women's REI UL pack:( I am about 5'5" 135 pounds (fairly average athletic build). So I ended up with this Deuter because it is one fully adjustable size. Even so, I am almost at the lower end of torso adjustment. Wonder what the "petite" women use - kid's packs??

Anyway, after two trips with it I am satisfied with the comfort of this pack. I did miles of heinous bushwhacking and it moved well with me as I clambered, jumped, waded, and tore through thick brush and trees. It also seems to be quite durable - as it ought to, considering how much it weighs. The top expandable lid also works well. The pack keeps a narrow profile, although I much prefer the outer attachments and posterior pockets of other brands. But you can easily fit a Nalgene+ in the side pockets. It does not cinch down very well as a smaller daypack. The extra wide hip belt pads are very comfortable and do not chafe. I did make use of the separate sleeping bag compartment, though I am not sure how much I like/need it. I do not recommend this pack for heavy loads (~40+ lbs). And I love the color!

Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 40 + 10 Pack:

Been in 3hrs trainings with this pack for a 500miles Camino de Santiago. It took a couple times to get used to the pack. It is slim at the waist and hard to get things in neatly. Good hip pockets; a little small but good for quick access to things that fit.
zippers sticky at first but after 3 time out, it began to loosen up.

Ah, US version does not come with fly cover :(

          Overall very happy with pack.

I am very happy with this backpack. I spent about an hour at the store trying all of them on and this one was by far the best for that great price. With proper adjustment (i recommend going to the store for that or doing some research online- proper adjustment does wonders!) I could barely feel the 35 pounds I was carrying! The red is a great color too.

Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 40 + 10 Pack:

I am going on a 2-week high Alps 110 mile trek in Switzerland this summer and staying an additional 2 weeks past that. I wanted a pack that I could take on the plane with me plus take everything I would need for an entire month in Europe including all the stuff for a trek (foul weather gear, etc.) After trying on many packs at REI, this unisex pack was by far the most comfortable pack with 25 pounds in it. It feels like I'm carrying nothing! I am 5'6", 140 lbs. with a narrow waist and larger hips and all the other packs (Gregory, Osprey) tended to just ride my hips and butt in a most uncomfortable way. The Deuter rides much higher and is more adjustable to an hour-glass shaped woman. I wish it had more outside pockets or a zipper so that the inside main pocket could be accessed from the front instead of just from the top. But, those are minor details compared to the supreme comfort of this fabulous pack. I have yet to really put it to the test on a trail, but comfort is a big deal to me. I have been hiking all the hills around Seattle with the pack fully loaded and so far I have hardly been aware that I have a pack on my back! As an added bonus, the red and gray colors sure are pretty!

Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 40 + 10 Pack:

Adjustable fit makes it easy to share with other hikers or adjust comfort while hiking. Quality of the materials and finish is great. The top is adjustable which allows for the 10L expanded capacity. It includes a water bladder which is a plus. The bladder is a fold top type which makes it easier to clean and air out. I use an Osprey Aether 70 for longer trips, the Deuter 40+10 is very similar except for the cooling system. This pack can be cinched up when less gear is loaded. I typically carry 18lbs. of gear not including water, fuel, and food. Great pack for a 3 day weekend.

Comments about Deuter ACT Lite 40 + 10 Pack:

I love this pack. After properly fitting the pack to my body, I was in complete comfort. We are not avid or professional hikers but when called upon the Dueter Aircontact performs flawlessly for our needs.

I am 5'9" with wide shoulders and carrying more weight than I should, so finding a pack to fit me comfortably was difficult. What I found was the Deuter Aircontact fit MUCH, MUCH better than comparable Osprey or Gregory products. No matter how much I wanted to buy an Osprey or Gregory, I could not get the shoulders or the waist belt to fit properly. The Deuter fit like a glove from day one. Because of our happiness with the Aircontact we have since added a Futura 30 to the family and will probably add another womens specific Deuter soon.
