Sitting squarely at the intersection of comfort and convenience, the REI Grand Tour 80 travel pack has an adjustable women-specific suspension system and a removable daypack.

Suspension system features adjustable torso length and padded shoulder straps, waistbelt and back panel shaped for a woman's frame
Main-panel zipper is oriented for easy access to gear while pack is upright
Panel-loading daypack zips on and off main pack easily; daypack's main compartment features 2 interior pockets
Daypack offers an integrated organizer panel, exterior bottle pockets and back panel security pocket; interior neoprene pocket fits most 13 in. laptop computers
Travel pack's main compartment has zippered panel opening with lockable zipper sliders (locks sold separately)

Got the backpack for a round-the-world trip. It is pretty comfortable and lightweight as long as you know what to pack. The color is nice and I could spot the thing easily in airports. The padding and support for the back and waist are great. Went on a 3 week pre-trip but found the mesh on the waist padding already coming off after two weeks, but it didn't affect backpack function. Also packed a first aid kit at the bottom of the backpack and it wore down the fabric. The detachable day-pack is very awesome. A hole opened up when the shoulder straps of the day-pack connect, though. The backpack survived the pre-trip, but I did not expect it to wear down so fast from being check-in luggage.

I have another backpack but I always get so frustrated with it because I have to top load everything and if I accidentally pack my camera on the bottom and want my camera I have to take EVERYTHING out. I've been searching all over to find a bag that opens like a suitcase instead of a rucksack. HERE IT IS!

I'm taking a trip to England and Ireland to study folk dance and music. I'm hopping from host family to host family so I'm not doing any serious backpacking so this is perfect for traveling and keeping everything together.

Also if you don't pack it all of the way it can be a carry on item! Besides you should leave some room for food and gifts!
