The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated4out of5byRunnin Rebel FanfromGreat for casual outingsI bought this Cabana about a year ago, primarily to use on outings at the beach, as a place for our dogs to lie, and to get out of the sun. I haven't had that opportunity yet, but this past Saturday I used it for the first time, at my grandsons football games. It was a bright, sunny day with winds of ten to twenty MPH. My wife and I set up the shelter with no real problems. The stakes were a little too lightweight for the rather hard ground we encountered, so I've already bought some heavier ones. The stakes supplied with the unit should be perfectly adequate for sand, however. Although the wind was blowing constantly, the Cabana and it's design really performed well. We were very comfortable. With the shelter situated with its back to the wind, its low, wide profile, when staked, made it very stable. We watched other parents trying to keep their pop-up tent shelters from blowing over, or just collapsing. So I think this is a great equipment addition for us. I'm actually looking forward to using it in cooler weather. It should be fine. One more thing, I went to REI yesterday and bought a tarp to use as a footprint. I think the floor of the Cabana will last much longer if you use one.

Rated5out of5byValeriusfromOur new garageTall enough to add privacy when sitting. Freestanding. Super-easy setup. Can stake it or use sandbags. Park it next to the green lower panel of the Kelty Shade House to make a "garage" or dry storage area. It's just a titch too long for our medium Shade House (not being sold anymore by REI, unfortunately, except as overstock), but you can still zip it, etc. Probably fits the large Shade house perfectly. Don't know why REI not selling these anymore. We love our Shade House.
Endured heavy rainstorm -- seemed totally water/windproof. Poles seem rugged and not scratchy. Floor panel rolls or zips up and it's rugged -- no digs even though we set wood and tools on it. Construction seems good.

Rated2out of5byK HikefromPoor Performance - a must returnSorry to say, we need to return this shelter. the pole joints, the ends of the poles in the grommets, and the zippers all jam in the Gulf Shores sand. I was able to set it up in the wind (but I have 25 years of backpacking experience). Most casual users will have significant trouble on a windy day (5-10 mph plus) aka - a typical day on the coast. As well, the pole sleeves have ripped a little after one use, and where the poles cross they will easily wear a hole in the adjacent sleeve. It could also use several more reinforced areas to tie the extra strings.

Rated4out of5bysit9001fromLight and StrongUsed this for the first time this past weekend. Set it up alone on the beach in under 10 minutes in sustained 15 knot winds with 25 knot gusts. Worked great as a windbreak and sunshade for the kids. Did need to use the guyout cords and fill the sand bag pouches.

Rated1out of5byKobythedogfromWould not buy! This product was purchased as a sun shade for my backyard and camping trips. The intent was to use it with our 5 month year old infant. This is a terrible product I would never recommend to anyone. Setting up and taking down is a hassle. Also, this sunshade gets super hot in the sun. It was unbearable to sit in under direct sun and 70 degrees outside.

Rated5out of5byHassanfromGreat for the beachI bought this so that the family would always have some shade at the beach and this thing has worked perfectly. It's not the sturdiest thing in the world and I wouldn't want to sit around in a torrential downpour with it but for what it is it's perfect. The kids have somewhere out of the sun, there's always shade for the cooler, and if you've just had enough of the sand you have somewhere to go. With the exception of a recently cracked fiberglass pole I have no complaints.
