This product was purchased as a sun shade for my backyard and camping trips. The intent was to use it with our 5 month year old infant. This is a terrible product I would never recommend to anyone. Setting up and taking down is a hassle. Also, this sunshade gets super hot in the sun. It was unbearable to sit in under direct sun and 70 degrees outside.

I bought this so that the family would always have some shade at the beach and this thing has worked perfectly. It's not the sturdiest thing in the world and I wouldn't want to sit around in a torrential downpour with it but for what it is it's perfect. The kids have somewhere out of the sun, there's always shade for the cooler, and if you've just had enough of the sand you have somewhere to go. With the exception of a recently cracked fiberglass pole I have no complaints.

I have only used this twice, but want to share the experience: Used as a day shelter at a canine agility trial.

The price point was great. Very easy to set up. The tent drew a small crowd of admirers checking it out. First day's use gets 5 stars, one man, one dog, a large dog crate, and a low comfortable camp chair made a cozy shelter. It was easy to help my reactive dog from getting over excited about all the other dogs around us. -This is what it was purchased to do!

Second day, it steady-moderate-rained all day long. After a few hours of that mess, I noticed a couple of pin hole drips at the upper seams. Naturally one was directly over my head! 4 stars for that, but I agree with the REI staff that asking this product to be waterPROOF is a bit much. (So I bought some seam sealer glue, but hopefully will never have a chance to review that!) The Cabana was sturdy enough that a tarp thrown over it later worked fine.

Questions not yet answered:
- How will it hold up over time and more use? It sure is very lightweight!
- What about wind?
- What about open field use in hot, sunny, no-wind conditions? Will the one open side and two mesh windows provide enough air circulation?

Quite happy with it overall.

This was so great. I live in Florida and am always at the beach. I would love to stay out all day, but as a red head even if I dip my entire body in sunscreen I burn.

This way I can stay out all day and not get burned.

So easy to set up. The only downside is (since I am only an occasional camper) like most tents, hard to stuff back in the bag.

Having said this it is great. And I would easily get one again if my current one ever broke.

Just used this for a day at the beach and it performed perfectly. Was super easy to set up with assistance in moderately windy conditions. Packs down small to make easy to carry plenty of room inside for two adults to sit comfortably.

This made our beach trip amazing! I have lupus so I need to be careful about my sun exposure. This cabana allowed me to stay at the beach and control how much I stayed in the sun. Second day there it was windy so we spent most of the time in the cabana with the "door" open. Enjoyed watching the ocean, feet in the sand, without being blown to pieces. Easy and fast to put up - 5 minutes tops. Kept sand out of everything. Going to Hawaii in a couple of weeks to visit friends. Airline won't let us carry it on so we are buying another one and having it shipped as a thank you gift to our hosts.

Used this for sun shade and privacy at the back of the Rocky Mountain Folks Fest. Best idea ever. Keeps sun and rain out. Gives privacy. Good cross-ventilation and vestibule keeps out dirt and debris.

We just bought our second cabana. The first one was recently returned due to the poles sleeves ripping and the poles cracking. Despite the issues, we used it for over 4 years and got a lot of great use out of it. We used the new one for the first time at the beach. The wind was blowing about 15-20MPH and we found a semi-sheltered place to set up the cabana. I immediately noticed that the poles seemed to be lighter than the previous ones we had. The set up was the same, simple 3 pole arrangement which we completed within about 5 minutes despite the wind. The tent material seemed to be slightly lighter but not of lesser quality. We used the attached sand anchors along with stakes to keep the shelter from blowing away. It provided a nice place to get out of the wind and sun. the only negative about the new design is that there are now only two small pockets where the older design had pockets along the full length of each side.

We have used this on day trips for our kids to take naps, or as a shelter from the sun or even wind and we almost always take it with us when we go on outings. We have even brought it camping to be used as the "play room" for the kids. I would recommend this to anyone who may need a place to call home on a day trip.
