Comments about REI Endeavor Shirt - Men's:
This is my second Endeavor shirt; I couldn't pass it up when I saw it on clearance. The chest pockets, rollable sleeves, vents, and quick-dry material make this a great shirt for travel.
At first I was not sure that I liked the hidden snaps on the placket; I thought that traditional buttons would be better. However, after wearing the shirt multiple times, the smooth front proved to be great because the lack of buttons means that it can't snag on straps or when removing a pullover.
I wore this shirt multiple days while in both Iceland and Hawaii and it never retained odor.
Overall a great purchase.

I was recently diagnosed with skin cancer. After surgery, all is well. But to keep the sun at bay, I purchased this garment to block out the UV rays. I like the way it feels and have not been out in the rain yet, but I'm sure it will dry fast and perform well.

Comments about REI Endeavor Shirt - Men's:
Can't address wear/pilling issues with packs, but I can recommend this as a great shirt to wear for travel, with khakis at work, and to the coffee shop. The snaps may pop annoyingly when taking it off, but the smooth placket is unique and adds quite a clean look. No problems with too much collar spread (yet). The nylon/spandex mix makes for a light, low-wrinkle but slightly warmer mix--maybe too warm over a thicker tee when on the plane. You can keep it cooler over a wicking tee, like a Terramar Helix (runs smaller in XL). Note: the fabric is NOT as thin & quick-drying as the all nylon Saharas. Think of it as a softshell fabric appropriate for indoor wear. I've worn it outdoors in a park in 85 degrees and 70% humidity--but that was stretching it. My 6'1" frame likes a 36/37" sleeve for dress shirts, but what I especially like about this is that the cut on the XL is not TOO roomy across the torso (and especially the waist). Rather, it is slimming without being a "Modern" or "fitted" gut-accentuator. My XL Sahara is huge around the middle, but this is more like an XL sleeve with an L body. Wish I'd had this on my last overseas trip with art students.

Shirt acquired "stink factor" after first time I wore it. I never have any issues with odor, in any of my clothes or in general. I am a clean guy!
I guess it's possible that this shirt was returned to REI and put back on the new clothes rack by mistake.

I love this shirt - very well made. It has snap closures - hard to tell form the picture. Not the most stylish colour but such an easy shirt - dries very fast, light but warm, breaths -- I love it

let me start by saying that i'm a tried and true REI fan. i've got a wardrobe and a garage full of REI gear. i live in REI clothes. the guarantee can't be beat nor can the quality. however, i've noticed a trend over the last 2 years in the rise in REI pricing. REI has gone from 98% of the time beating major brand names on similar items on price with equal quality to pricing that can be considerably higher. this shirt and their matching pants are examples of that recent shift. while these shirts are great shirts, they are not worth full price. they feature awesome technical features but so do many other REI technical shirts for much less. the Sahara line of shirts is a perfect example. what i really didn't like was seeing an equivalent shirt, same style, same fabric, made by another brand, for $20 less. one would not have seen that several years ago. what's up with that REI? another thing i don't care for are the plastic snaps. for this expensive of a shirt, the plastic snaps seem a real cheap touch. the only reason i bought this shirt is because i had a 20% off coupon and my dividend in hand. not real sure why it is so expensive. i do like the fact that they are outdoor technical shirts that can be used as nice casual dining attire when you want something nicer than the Sahara line. given that i'm a minimalist packer when i travel, this is a great plus. if the price was more reasonable, i'd have given this shirt 5 stars. i'd recommend these pants to a friend only if he's got a coupon, it is on sale, and they've got a dividend to spend.

I bought this for my backpacking trip through Central America.
I like feel of the stretchy material and the snap buttons. The fit is OK but the sleeves seemed a bit too long for my liking - you probably need to be on the tall skinny side.
The armpit vents aren't that useful for ventilation and the material had pilled heavily after only 4-5 uses. I wasn't doing a lot of miles under a heavy backpack (basically from bus to to dorm) so I don't think it was undue wear. The rest of the time I was just using a small daypack. Instead I used an old business shirt that breathed better, fit better and frayed less.
I wanted to like it but it just didn't seem like it was going to last the distance. I returned it.

Comments about REI Endeavor Shirt - Men's:
I bought this shirt expecting to dislike it. I needed a good, durable shirt for cross country hikes that could handle some solid abuse, and really didn't expect anything up to that task would also be comfortable. I've worn this shirt on trips for three days straight several times now. It breathes great, it dries quick, and it adapts to anything you need it to. Plus, it's durable. A recent trip through a creosote covered ridgeline was my proof positive of that. I'm happy, and if I needed a second one, I'd definitely buy one. But the way this thing is holding up, I don't think I'll need one.

Comments about REI Endeavor Shirt - Men's:
Bought this shirt for a trip to Switzerland and Italy. It was appealing due to the flexibility (short / long sleeve) and modern look. I wore it out to dinner maybe 2 times before the front of the shirt pilled badly. The pilling was caused by a small Pacsafe bag I was using to carry phone, camera and a few small items. I would expect a "technical piece" to be able to withstand some small abrasions for at least a few wears. In my opinion it's the lowest quality REI branded item I've ever purchased. I would not recommend this item.

A very distinctive shirt. At first the snap front and hidden buttons seemed a bit odd, now it's my favorite feature. The shirt can be tugged off when conditions changed, but stays sharp and neat in all conditions. Terrific on the trail or out to eat.
Just wish there were other colors available.
