Comments about Stanley Utility Vacuum Food Jar - 18 fl. oz.:
It works great. I had soup in it and it was not quite liquid tight but great for food. Would recommend it. Make sure you preheat it as it states as this will increase the length your food will stay warm.

Comments about Stanley Utility Vacuum Food Jar - 18 fl. oz.:
Maybe this product has changed since some of the reviews, but this definitely did not keep my oatmeal warm. I pre-heated the container, then put boiling hot water and hotmeal in it and 4 hours later the oatmeal was only slightly warm - just to the point of not actually being cold but no where near what I was expecting. Very disappointing.

Comments about Stanley Utility Vacuum Food Jar - 18 fl. oz.:
Been using mine for six months now.
I work in the field and this allows me to bring my favorite hot, healthy home-cooked meals with me as I travel each day. Stew, gumbo, boudain, stir-fry, meatloaf, chili, steak and potatoes, meatloaf, spaghetti just to name a few.
I was worried that some foods, especially the starches and vegetables; would turn mushy after being hot sealed for hours while bouncing around in my backpack or my truck, but have had no such problems. Everything maintains it's consistency and texture.
Slip it into an insulated water bottle holder (1 liter size) to provide even more insulation and protection from dents and dings.
Jar has a wide opening and is short enough for utensils to reach bottom sticking your hand down inside.
Personally I avoided anything that expected me to pour food into a detachable cup/lid (messy)or had a multi-purpose fork/spoon attached to the outside where it would snag, get dirty and be hard to replace when inevitably lost or broken. Handy carry straps and handles likewise catch on everything and take up space in the pack.

Comments about Stanley Utility Vacuum Food Jar - 18 fl. oz.:
Maybe I just got a bad one, but it worked great one time only. The second and every other time since, it won't keep food or beverages hot for even a half-hour. I guess the vacuum seal has leaked, so I'm returning it for a new one. Poor quality control anyway, since it was only hand-washed and didn't see any rough handling.
Comments about Stanley Utility Vacuum Food Jar - 18 fl. oz.:
This vacuum food jar was filled with rolling-boiled water. Then it was stored at 14°F for five hours. At the end of five hours, the water was 150°F. This vacuum storage jar should give you a warm lunch under cold conditions. The neck opening is less than 3 inches across. I can fit my small hand in for cleaning. ♪♫~~☼~~♫♪

Comments about Stanley Utility Vacuum Food Jar - 18 fl. oz.:
I bought this container to bring a hot meal with me to work.
Pros: Retains heat very well. The mouth is wide enough to comfortably accommodate a Snow Peak spork or any other utensil. As you can imagine, very durable.
Con: The smooth body can, on occasion, make it difficult to get a good grip when removing the lid. Adding some texture or flat surfaces to the body or base to improve "gripability" would make up the extra star.

Comments about Stanley Utility Vacuum Food Jar - 18 fl. oz.:
I use this every day to take my oatmeal into work. It holds a good amount and stays warm. In fact, if I pre-condition it (let sit with hot water), it can be too hot. When I wash it at work and leave warm tap water and soap in it, the water is still warm 10 hours later. Once I left it overnight accidentally, and it was still warm. Did I mention that it retains heat very, very well? It also kept hot chocolate warm for hours in the snow.
My only issue with it is that the mouth is not large enough to fit my hand inside for cleaning. I think I'm a fairly normal sized man, so it's not like I have bear paws or anything. Would be nice if the opening were half-an-inch wider.
