Comments about REI Venturi Quarter-Zip Long-Sleeve Shirt - Men's:
I am 6'4 and have long arms... I am pretty lean though. I got a size medium and the sleeve length is perfect! It's VERY hard to find long sleeve shirts that fit... the Large was too baggy as I like a slimmer/athletic fit.

Comments about REI Venturi Quarter-Zip Long-Sleeve Shirt - Men's:
I bought this shirt because it was visually appealing to me and I was very intrigued by the fabric. When you couple the style of the shirt with the claims REI makes about the fabric it quickly became a must have item. I've worn it casually and I ran with it for about 4 miles (I usually never run wearing long sleeves, I get hot easy). The wicking and cooling properties are fantastic and even though it's long sleeve I never felt hot. The shirt is soft, comfortable, stretchy, and light weight.

The ugly chest pocket was a deal breaker for me.Style and function are both important.

Comments about REI Venturi Quarter-Zip Long-Sleeve Shirt - Men's:
This shirt is the closest REI has come to replacing the old Midweight Long Sleeve Zip Underwear, which was the most comfortable piece of clothing they sold/I've worn. The material is soft and comfortable, but still dries quickly and doesn't pill like the majority of active wear shirts. I'm 6', 155, and typically wear a large long sleeve for the arms to be long enough (I'm a large in most REI brand clothes). In this shirt, a medium fit perfectly.
The down side is the cost and pocket. I have several jackets and shirts with a similar napoleon pocket. I've never once used any of them. It's just something else to bounce or chafe while running. Also, the old midweight zip underwear was considerably cheaper. They added small vents in key hot areas, but that shouldn't increase the cost 60%. Also, there are no monkey loops, if you like your long sleeve shirts to have those.
If you're okay with spending the money, you'll really like the shirt, but a couple changes would make this shirt better. Or just bringing back the old shirt.

Comments about REI Venturi Quarter-Zip Long-Sleeve Shirt - Men's:
This shirt is pretty nice. Definitely way over priced. The pocket is appealing to the people who really want fashion more than function. Lose the pocket, drop the price, and then it will be a good shirt. Really, why is that pocket even there?

Comments about REI Venturi Quarter-Zip Long-Sleeve Shirt - Men's:
I bought this on sale and really like it. Used it on the Maryland segment of the AT in April and was perfect under my REI Rain shell and for early morning hiking. BUT... it pilled under my pack straps after about 15 Minutes. Still it is great peice of gear. Just took it hiking last weekend in Michigan at 28F with a 30lb pack over a light t-shirt. It kept me warm and the thumbholes kept my hands at the perfect temp too. Oh...and I do use the chest pocket too! Handy for one or two small light items. I'm 5'11" 198lbs with 33-1/2" sleeves and the large is snug on me. It is def a first or a second layer over something thin. Three Stars because of the pilling.

i've got 3 of these, 2 LS and 1 SS. i didn't pay full price for any of them. they are overpriced. but, on sale or at dividend time, they're a steal of an item. not sure why the pocket is so offsetting to so many. i like it and that's what attracted me to the shirt the first time i bought one. i believe they are on their way out since they have been on sale for a couple months. the pocket haters may actually get what they want in the new version! we'll see....

The fabric and fit are great. I hate the pocket. REI - please lose the pocket on this and the short sleeved version.

Comments about REI Venturi Quarter-Zip Long-Sleeve Shirt - Men's:
I find this product the perfect middle layer. Sizing is great and it fits under other well fitted coats and jackets for minimal thickness in layering.
I purchased a size small because of my narrow frame and like the look of the pocket on a smaller shirt.

Comments about REI Venturi Quarter-Zip Long-Sleeve Shirt - Men's:
I was seeking a long sleeve quick drying shirt for fall hiking. I hike every Wednesday with a local hiking group and usually do backpacking trips on the weekend. I'm 6'2" and 235, and I sweat and retain a lot of heat when I'm hiking. I wanted something that stretches with my body, allows good range of motion, and can wick away sweat and keep me warm and dry on all my hikes.
I wore it for the group's sunset hike as a single layer, without a vest or fleece. It was cool and cloudy, so I got to test it to see if it kept me warm as a single layer. I was impressed that even with its lightweight, it kept me warm and also dry. The hike was all uphill and I usually wear just a short sleeve on most of my hikes. It kept the sweat off of me and it stayed dry the whole time. Some quick dry shirts wick the sweat away, but it has to go somewhere, leaving a sweat spot on the back or chest at times. I found no such thing. I even wore it to the after hike gathering afterwards with no sign of sweating from the hike.
I like the feel of the material. Very soft and it stretches to my range of motion for steep uphills and crawling over occasional rocks and boulders. The sleeves are just right, and the pocket serves a purpose. It's there if you need it, to hold small items when you need just a small pocket. Great for a iPod on a jog, or hike. I see that some people might not like the look, but I bought the shirt for function. I don't buy hiking clothes to set a fashion example in the woods. It kept me dry, and it kept me warm. Job well done, for what it was made for.
I would highly recommend this shirt to joggers and hikers that want a good, light, quick drying long sleeve shirt for fall.
