Comments about The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag:
I bought this by friend referral too. And I bought male version since review is better with long feature. the level is 20 degree but I took it to Pinnacle and Yosemite where 30-40 degree and felt so warm at night that I simply wear t-shirt and shorts to sleep. It is very light comparing my friends' sleep bags and easy to fold and pack to go. I also love the hood to cover head warm. I normally just fold the fleece into the hood as pillow and had great sleep. The only disadvantage was that zipper easily stuck when you tried to open it from inside.

Comments about The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag:
I use this for backpacking with the BoyScouts. I am 5' 10" and 215 pounds. The bag is a little tighter than a cheaper bag but this one by far weighs less and packs down smaller. While just snug around my arms with them at the side, it is still comfortable and I continue to use it. The hood has a single draw string while my last bag had one for the neck area and one for the hood opening.

Comments about The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag:
This bag is NOT best used for backpacking. It packs much too large, so large that it wouldn't even fit in the sleeping bag compartment of my Futura Pro 42 backpack. Though, the compartment is on the smaller end, it has plenty of room for a down bag and my air pad. Worst of all with this bag... the temp rating is WAY off. I think I am a pretty average sleeper, as far as temp goes. At 25*F with Long Johns, pants, wool socks, t-shirt, long sleeve wool shirt, mid-layer and a ski jacket on while sleeping, I WAS STILL TOO COLD TO SLEEP! This bag is too heavy, get a down bag instead and learn to care for it.
All in all, avoid this bag for if you intend on backpacking or light to go light. I am not thrilled with much of TNF's products at the moment!

Finally found the perfect sleeping bag for me...I've used this bag in temps as low as mid20s and stayed toasty warm..I'm a side sleeper and had little problems rolling on my side in the bag..The bag is a tad short but did'nt cause me any problems...Cant say enough good things about the bag...

Comments about The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag:
I like my Cats Meow... It feels great to sleep in, stuffs pretty well into its sack, and fluffs up pretty quickly. It has a few cons, however.
The zipper snags on the liner pretty easily. You have to get in and out rather carefully to avoid it. North face seems to have this issue with a lot of their stuff lately.
This thing packs huge. Even compressed in its sack it's the size of a basketball. Not a problem as I have a larger pack, but I have seen others with down bags that look to be half the size. The weight is very comparable to other twenty degree bags, this thing just doesn't squash to a reasonable size.
That being said, I spent a Very wet night on Mount Tennent in NC last month. Temps in the fifties and rain and mist all night. I sweated to death in my cats meow on top of a thermarest pad, I didn't even zip it up. In the morning everything was soaked, my rainfly, my hammock, even the foot of my bag, but inside was dry and warm.

Comments about The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag:
I've had this bag for two years and it's never let me down. I finally feel compelled to write a review though because I recently spent a rough night on Mt. Garfield (NH) in a 25-degree F, 65mph summer storm. Because I was on a tent platform and could not sufficiently get my tent planted, the inside got totally soaked with freezing rain. The outside of this bag was literally sopping wet, but the inside didn't get more than moist and it managed to keep me warm enough to even get some sleep. This bag was basically the difference between an uncomfortable night and a living hell.
Since I purchased this bag a few years ago, I've gradually shifted from casual camping to more strenuous and rugged backpacking trips. That should speak to it's versatility.
It could pack smaller, maybe be a bit lighter, and definitely have more room to roll around in, but all in all, it has met my every need.
I would definitely recommend this bag.

Awesome sleeping bag. It's a classic one made by North Face. Very comfortable. I'm 6'0, so I bought the tall version. There's still plenty of room for me. It kept me warm while camping at Yellowstone this summer, and hope it'll continue to be great!

Comments about The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag:
I am a hammock camper and I have used this bag down to 22F. I use an under-quilt and I stayed very warm. I do not use the stuff sack that came with the bag because it does not compress it well enough,I have a drysack that compresses it down so that it fits in the bottom compartment of my pack. Overall I'm pleased with the value of this bag.

Comments about The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag:
This bag is comfortable. I especially like how the hood feels. It is one of the only hoods that I feel comfortable completely zipping up, with my head inside without getting claustrophobic.
I also appreciate the weight of this bag. I am a 5' 10" female, but bought the men's tall bag, to avoid the claustrophobia and to increase the comfort level. I like being able to move a bit more than some of the other bags allow.
I do find this bag to be a bit too bulky. Ideally, I wish that it would pack to a smaller size.
I also have gotten cold almost every time I use this bag. This may be a "user error" as I get cold in almost every bag that I have used. I have decided to keep the bag and to purchase a liner.

Comments about The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag:
First of all, most of the reviews of this bag have "Zipper Snags Easily" in the con section. For the people who put that and gave it 5 stars... ??? There are bags out there that t=the zippers don't snag easily, don't give it five stars if it has a design flaw.
This zipper snags WAY too easily and that is a huge problem. The first time I got in this bag was at home. When I got into it and zipped it up just to check it out, it felt great getting in... getting out was impossible! I am not too big for this bag, but the zipper has to be carefully slowly unzipped or else... YEP It snagged, so bad, in fact, that it TORE the inside fabric when I finally got it unstuck (i had to just to get out of it). Now I have to return it! Thank the rainforest gods that REI has a good return policy, although I'm pretty sure I could return this anywhere I bought it because that is ridiculous. Anyway... its going back and I have had terrible luck with recent North Face purchases, I will be looking at other brands more carefully from now on, and not listening to sales reps when they point me to a North Face item.
