First of all, I would like to state that we have 3 children under the age of 5 so we have to do alot of car camping. This review may not be helpful for those who backpack. We used this product while camping at Delaware Seashore State Park and it works amazingly well. You slip the clothes in between 2 ropes and use the beads to hold it in place. I was skeptical about it when I first put it up but I couldn't believe how much and how well it worked at such a windy place such as the beach. None of our clothes came off! Also, the case that is included is attached and very helpful for storage. The price is good compared to the REI clothesline and works much better. Not only that, you don't need to bring anything extra to keep your clothes on the line!

not so great for hotel travel

Didn't work well for hotel travel. Hard to attach to the miscellaneous attachment points in European hotel bathrooms. Difficult to adjust the length for the varying dimensions of the bathrooms. The hook-based attachment scheme does not support the secure modification of length. I imagine it would be much better for backpacking and the like, where it could be attached trees or branches. The small size and weight are an obvious advantage, for all kinds of travel.

Surprisingly capable

Just completed a 14-day drive down the Pacific Highway from Seattle to just above San Francisco with side trips to Crater Lake, Redwoods and 3 days in Yosemite. Stayed in funky small hotels. This clothesline was invaluable. Its length is excellent for running multiple continuous lines in a small bathroom or one long line is a spacious place. We discovered we could hang clothes over it (as expected) or hang them on coat hangers from the hotel rack (when provided). The hotel hangers that just end in a knob and not a hook can be held securely between two of the buttons on this line. The only improvement might be to include a few clothespins in the kit as well.

Just acceptable

Beads were not easy to use. I used the "REI Hang Up Clothesline" last year on my trip to Honduras, and found the clothespins easier to use. (Even though they slid along the line, you could tie knots to keep them in place). There were not enough beads on this line to hang multiple small items, and the design of pinching the clothes between lines with the beads created a lot or wrinkles on t-shirts, etc. Basically, I ended up using this "Sea to Summit Lite Line" to just drape my clothes over. I could have used a length of rope instead.

Super Useful for Travel

We used this almost daily on a month-long trip to India. It is so well designed and compact. Way more compact that packing p-cord and clothespins. Before we left home, I noticed that the beads that create the tension to keep items hung ended short of the ends of the cord and I added some safety pins to the outside of the pouch which were very useful in getting every inch of the line full. Worth every penny!

great, compact can add beads

This product is great. Just received it and not yet field tested but seems pretty straightforward. There are some reviews that claim there aren’t enough beads, the solution is to add more yourself. These are just pony beads you can find in the kids section at a craft store. Just be sure to match the inside hole width-that’s the most important so the will hold as well as the rest that came with it. Problem solved.

Excellent Tiny, Ultralight Travel Line

Looked at a lot of different options for travel use, and this is The One! Packs tiny, unfolds to a full 11'6" (twice the length of most competing travel lines), weighs 1.2 oz. Sliding bead system is amazingly effective (who'd have thought it?) so no need for clothespin substitutes (although you can always use twist ties, rubber bands, etc). Both ends have a hook which loops around whatever you want to secure it to, and you can adjust to whatever length you like up to the full 11.6". Folds away easily back into the attached pouch. A very clever and well executed solution. I bought this for use primarily in foreign hotel rooms for washing up in the bathroom sink, but it would work equally well outdoors in open air, in a cruise stateroom, etc. Great product, well worth adding to my travel bag.

Can’t hold much

I picked this up because I thought it might be handy to have while traveling. I’m testing it out at home and didn’t realize that it only has 12 beads to clip clothing down. You can drape things over but not a ton. I was hoping it had more beads than just 12. 12 allows you to hold 3 shirts comfortably. While you can throw other items over it was disappointing to know it only had a few beads. It’s still handy and I’ll likely keep it but if you’re looking forward to the clips don’t expect to do a whole lot with them.

Awesome Clothesline

I use this clothesline when I travel or go camping. This clothesline is so compact and light that I always just throw it in my luggage or backpack. When traveling to different countries, trying to find a laundry or laundry service is a difficult task....So I simply wash my own clothes in the sink of the hotel room or in a waterproof stuff sack. This clothesline is easy to string up anywhere and the beads hold the clothes nicely without worrying about clothes pins. I found it to be the perfect length and an awesome price too!!!

great compact clothesline

I've used this in the Boundary Waters, on other camping trips, and on our lanai when vacationing in HI - it's a great little clothesline. The beads work well to hold socks & other smaller items on the line in a breeze. Larger items like T shirts are better just draped over the line. The only con is the black color, which makes it easy to forget at a campsite (which is why I'm buying a second one).

Travel necessity

This makes doing laundry while traveling so easy. I wear a lot of clothes that I buy from REI that are made of various man made materials, and I don’t like drying them. I have a clothes line at home but when I travel for work this makes it easy for me to continue air drying my clothes and not ruining them. It’s easy to deploy, packs ridiculously small, and is very strong. I’ve loaded it up with over a dozen soaking wet items and it never gave any indication that it was overloaded. If you travel regularly and don’t like drying your synthetic or merino clothes, this is an easy solution.
