Comments about REI Digital Luggage Scale - Small:
I took this scale with me on a trip to Nepal. It is very convenient to use, and it weighs nothing. Both going and coming on flights, I was near the weight limit, and if I was a little over, I could use this scale to adjust my bag weight by pulling something out to put in my carry-on.

Comments about REI Digital Luggage Scale - Small:
Inaccurate weight recorded, have to remove article for weight to register and display lasts for seconds only, clip hard to open, totally poor design.

Works fine, but the batteries only lasted for about 25 measurements.

Comments about REI Digital Luggage Scale - Small:
This performed exactly as advertised. I used it on a trip to Canada. Used it to make sure 7 pieces of check-in and hand-carried luggage were within weight limits.
It sometimes gave different readings during successive weighings, but within .3 lbs each time, so no sweat for my use. Also, the display would stay on long enough for me to review the result.
However, the reason for my low review is that when I packed the scale for travel, after I reached my destination, the display was flashing and would not reset. It may be because the buttons had been pressed continuously during the trip, or it may just be defect in the unit.
In any event, I like the unit enough that I will be obtaining a replacement, and this time I will find a plastic eyeglass case that I can use to protect the buttons from accidental presses.

Comments about REI Digital Luggage Scale - Small:
I like the product especially now days with airline luggage overweight fees. ONE PROBLEM: When weighing the readout comes up to weight and within 2 secs goes away. SOME SORT OF ERROR CODE COMES ON. I thought once the weight stablized it was supposed to LOCK ON so you could read it longer. the way it is now I have to read quick before it goes to error. NOt helpful when showing ticket agents! Will return when I get back to the states.

Comments about REI Digital Luggage Scale - Small:
This product does exactly what it is supposed to do. I verified it's accuracy with a laboratory scale and it is indeed accurate to 0.1 lb. I don't understand some of the other reviews: it came in with batteries and the installation could not have been any simpler (open compartment, pull plastic strip, close cover). I have used it a few times in airplane luggages and I cannot see how it could turn itself on by accident, unless one tries very hard... It is lightweight and can be stashed easily in one's luggage. Worth every pennies...

Comments about REI Digital Luggage Scale - Small:
This thing works great. Actually does come with correct batteries unlike others have stated. Although it took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to get them in! There is a silver tab that sticks out in the battery compartment... BOTH batteries go under the tab. The first slides under easily, but the second takes a bit of pushing and finesse to get in and then put the battery cap back on over it.
After I figured that out it worked great. Very useful for weighing our packs before our last trip. It is a big help distributing weight between a couple or group of backpackers. Will also be very useful to weigh my luggage before I hop on airplane.

Comments about REI Digital Luggage Scale - Small:
I removed the heavy hanging hardware, and replaced it with a loop of TripTease. Combined with a carabiner I was able to weigh a wide variety of items and reduced the weight considerably.
The power button is easily pressed inside luggage and thus runs the batteries out. Removing the batteries between uses is a pain, and seems also to degrade the batteries with touching. Some sort of positive shut-off, or a way to protect the batteries would be good. Perhaps use AAA batteries which are more common?

Comments about REI Digital Luggage Scale - Small:
The scale is well made, sturdy, easy to use, small enough to put in a purse. Great for travelling. Downside: it takes 2 coin batteries and packaging came only with one. So I went out and bought another coin battery - 2032, and by chance picked up the slimmer 2016 ones. Just as well that I did, because the scale only works with a combo of one 2032 and one 2016 battery. These cost about $6 per pair, so add another $6-12 to the cost of the scale, depending on what you get in your package.
