Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Trek Multisport Shoes - Women's:

First, let me just say these are the most butt-ugly shoes you will ever own (but not as ugly as the other Vibram shoes), and they are worth it!

Incredibly comfortable, and pretty much like walking barefoot, these give considerably more stability, durability and protection from rocks underfoot.

If you are considering them, a few words of advice:

      1. If possible, try them on at REI. Sizing can be different even between the various Vibram models. A lot has to do with how it feels, so it's best to try on multiple pairs.

      2. Their sizing is determined not by what size you normally wear, but by measuring your foot. You can't skip this step if ordering online.

      3. Although I am female, the men's shoe fit better for me. If you are female with a wider foot, consider the men's style. If you are male with a narrower foot, consider the women's.

      4. The kangaroo upper of the Treks wears better than the KSO upper material. It's also better if your feet sweat, (in my opinion) and is more comfortable.

      5. I use the KSOs for running on pavement only (and only so I don't wear out the Treks so quickly). If you'll be hiking or running where there are even small rocks, or uneven terrain, the Treks are much better. I think the Treks are the perfect all-around, multi-purpose option.

      6. A thin pair of toe socks help in cold weather.

      7. Wear them around the house instead of going barefoot for a week, while you get used to the feel. Then, slowly break them in keeping the amount of time you run in them short in the beginning. Your muscles need to develop in order to properly support you. I actually wore mine to the grocery store and while running errands as well.

      8. When first hiking or running in them, pay special attention to the way your foot is hitting the ground. You can't use the traditional "heel strike" gait, and in fact, it defeats the purpose and will cause considerable pain. Pay a little attention in the beginning until you get used to them. You're going to notice that your calves need time to adjust too, and they get a bigger workout when using these. Search online for running barefoot to read more about this.

      9. Give them a brushing with a suede brush to remove any loose dirt. You'll want to wash them if they start getting stinky, and you can, in a washing machine in cold water with a mild detergent, but don't put them in a dryer. Just air dry them.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Trek Multisport Shoes - Women's:

If you like the fabric fivefingers, you will LOVE the suede ones! A little warmer, a little more stylish, rugged, and with just a little bit of cushion--enough so you can tell the difference from the other fivefingers, but still have that "barefoot" experience. I think they are less stiff too and mold to your feet better. The only drawback I can think of is that the suede might not look as nice if it gets wet.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Trek Multisport Shoes - Women's:

I can't say enough. If you would prefer to be barefoot all the time you will love these shoes. I do recommend you actually go into a store to be sized. Then when you find the style of Vibram that you like, try several different pairs of the exact same size & style. I recommend this because there are slight variations especially in the toes of each pair. I learned this the hard way!

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Trek Multisport Shoes - Women's:

These are great shoes. They're comfortable and, in my opinion, look nice. I got them in addition to my Sprints to wear in colder weather. The soles definitely feel thicker in comparison, but I still feel the ground. The tread helped me run on muddy trails that were too slick for my Sprints.
I usually wear a 39 or 40, and ordered these in 40, like my sprints. The toes don't fit quite the same - they seem a little longer on me. If you can, try them on in a store. Overall, I am very pleased with them.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Trek Multisport Shoes - Women's:

I have tried the Classics, the Treksport, and now these. I still have my classics, which were the first pair I bought over three years ago. The Treksports wore out after hiking ten miles in them one day. And now these, which I bought for their "ruggedness", or so I thought. I have done no serious miles in these and the big toes have already burst through the side on both feet. I am really disappointed. It is the same thing that happened to my Treksports AND my classics have those holes too but for some reason they are much smaller and don't cause a problem yet. I wear my classics now, until I have to get a new pair. Overall, I would not reccomend the KSO Treks, however I would recommend the Classics to anyone and everyone. I found that spending the extra money on the KSO Treks did not give me anything superior to my Classics. I'll just stick with the basics, that's all you need!

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Trek Multisport Shoes - Women's:

Took them straight out of the box, put them on my feet according to the instructions on the box and took my dogs on a 3 mile trail on the lake near my house. These are my new favorite shoes! The trail consists of gravel, small rocks, roots and dirt. Yes, I could feel the rocks but it was in a good way. Seemed to help me keep my balance and navigate the trail a little smoother. No hot spots either although I can see myself using a little BodyGlide if I plan on going out for longer or on a more rugged trail just for insurance. I am a 7.5 in regular shoes and an 8 in hiking boots/trail running shoes (to accomodate thicker socks and swelling feet) and the 38s fit me perfectly. I have a wide toe box and a narrow heel which causes me to get blisters on the outsides of the ball of my foot below my big toe and my pinky toe and/or black toenails from almost all my hiking/trail shoes if I wear them long enough. I don't see that happening with these shoes. They fit like a glove but have enough reinforcement on the bottom and around the edge for me not to worry about getting banged up. I plan on seeing how rough I can get with these since I'd love to be able to use them for light backpacking. This is my first pair of FiveFingers. I had no unusual calf soreness from wearing them the first time but it might be cause I already do cardio (Tae-bo, 30 Minute Shred) barefooted. Get these shoes, you'll love them!

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers KSO Trek Multisport Shoes - Women's:

For mud and snow these have MUCH improved traction over the regular KSOs. Won't help you on ice or very slippery wet rocks, but in other normal trail conditions these are great. A bit more cushioning (than the KSOs) helps a lot on rocky trails. They don't dry as fast as the regular KSOs but the added traction is such a big plus I can live with that. I needed a size larger than I wear with the regular KSOs - perhaps because these are just a bit less flexible. If you've never worn VFFs please read my review of the KSOs.
