      I used this version of the clean canteen to replace the 40 oz wide mouth Klean Kanteen that one had a weird taste after using it for a few months. This Klean Kanteen with the sport cap is great in principle, but poor in execution. The idea of having a sport cap is to easily drink from the bottle while on the go (as opposed to screwing off a lid, problematic when doing something like cycling). However, there is a severe design flaw in the detachable cover for the drinking valve -- drinking valve cover is presumably meant to keep dust/other grimy stuff off of your drinking contact area when you've stored your bottle (e.g., when the valve is closed). However, this cover is secured to the top component of the valve and is secure enough that, when trying to take off the cover, the valve will open first before the cover comes off of the valve component. This means that the valve may open prematurely/unintentionally, as it had numerous times on a hike I recently took at Cooper Spur. I was not happy about my soaked bag.To fix this, one should remove the detachable cover for the drinking valve (this cover is simply snug between the bottle and cap via a ring base that rests on the circumference). Klean Kateen should design this cap such that the cover be secured on the bottom component of the valve so that when pulling off the cover, the valve isn't at risk to open[...]

        I purchased this bottle because I was drawn to it being 40 oz. I have found Klean Kanteen to be a company that produces quality products. I do not mind the cap attachment since I am aware oh how to close a cap.

          I got this bottle because it holds 40 ounces which is a lot more than most bottles. Also its stainless steel so there are no plastic chemicals to cause health issues. Only downside is I wish the cap was stainless steel. It is a bit pricey for a water bottle but I plan on using this for a long time. Since it holds so much water I dont have to buy bottled water anymore. Other people commented on the cap leaking. I haven't had any problems as long as I push the cap down all the way and put the cover over it

          My family and I LOVE Kanteens. We each have at least one. The new sport cap (2.0) does leak, so I don't recommend using it to toss in your bag. However, if you use a carabiner and hook it onto your bag, you'll be fine.
