This helmet saved my life. Was hit by a taxi on my way to work and landed head first on asphalt. Got pretty banged up but my head was ok. I've never written an online review of a product before, but this one deserves it.

Good helmet with many possible uses. Excellent protection with a well-ventilated liner and breathable & 2 snap-in absorbent sweat/head bands with either the visor/brim attached or not. The fit is good and snug though I can also fit an lightweight beanie cap under it it for early morning rides in cold weather.

Definitely an alternative to the more streamlined and Flight of the Navigator spaceship-looking bike helmets out there but it is a little blockish/chunky looking in its own right. (The flat-ish forehead area was actually a boon for the purposes of attaching the Adapt mount for my Petzl Tikka XP 2 headlamp for taking night rides though). Good choice for a helmet overall.

Well ventilated for warm weather riding -- converts easily with liner for cold weather riding and ski / snowboard use. Helmet looks good and functions very well. No need to buy separate brain buckets for biking and snow sports. I like the matte olive color, too.

This used to be a great helmet. I bought one last year and loved it. At that time it came with 2 headbands - one with visor and one without. Now these helmets are sold with only one headband - one with visor.

The description says the visor is removable, but this is completely misleading. The visor is indeed attached to a removable headband lining, but the helmet does NOT come with a visorLESS headband to replace it. Therefore, while the visor is technically "removable", this is completely useless because you cannot then wear the helmet!

And to the best of my knowledge, the visorless headband is not even available for sale separately either! Completely ridiculous if you ask me.

I can't even use the visorless headband from my old helmet, because they changed the button-snaps so it wont fit the new version of the Brentwood helmet.

Come on Bern, get with the program!

I really like this helmet - the design, fit, and ability to use it for winter sports. The main problem I have is that the visor built into the liner seriously restricts my field of vision. I don't feel safe on my bike commutes with this visor in place. Bern's Macon helmet includes an alternative snap-in liner that does not have the visor. But for some reason Bern decided to not include the alternate non-visor liner with the Brentwood - the more expensive helmet. The alternate non-visor snap in liner does not even appear to be an option to purchase separately. Unless I can locate an alternate liner, I plan to return this helmet, which is a bummer 'cause I really like the fit and style.

The built in ball cap-like visor looks nice but it seriously restricts my field of vision. I do not feel safe riding with this helmet as cannot, for instance, see traffic lights or a reasonable distance ahead because the visor cuts the view. Bern should include a helmet liner without the visor, as it does on some of its cheaper models.

This fits well but it's ugly. It is too round and clunky looking for everyday commuting IMO. I wanted something on the low profile side without compromising protection so I exchanged it for the Bern Macon and I am very happy with that model. The Brentwood just looks more like a kids ski helmet when worn.
