The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Packable Day Pack:
Absolutely the best 20-liter day pack you can buy that can be stored inside a plastic easter egg. This is an unbelievably lightweight day pack-- check the weight on the Specs tab if you don't believe me. It makes other "ultralight" packs look like 19th century cargo trunks. Despite the minimalist construction, the seams are double-stitched and the construction is generally good (for what it is).
I got this as a day trip excursion backpack for a Costa Rica vacation where there are pretty severe baggage weight restrictions on the domestic flights. Since we were planning to go white-water rafting and rappelling down waterfalls, I also wanted something thin that would dry out quickly when wet. The fabric is supposed to be water-resistent as-is, but I paired it with a lightweight dry bag inside to create the ultimate lightweight waterproof (as in use-it-for-emergency-floatation waterproof) backpack. Total weight of the backpack plus the dry sack was about six ounces-- wow!
Because I had the inner dry sack when I used it, I was not putting a huge amount of abuse directly onto this backpack's thin fabric. I don't think it would hold up well to unprotected heavy, sharp-cornered objects inside-- you would want to pack somewhat carefully by rolling metal stoves or cameras inside a shirt or something to spread out the load. This would also be important for your personal comfort since there is not one shred of foam padding anywhere in this pack.
Make no mistake, this is a minimalist pack without any extra features on it. The adjustable shoulder straps are wide to spread the load out, but are otherwise unpadded and are made from the same thin nylon fabric as the rest of the pack. The integrated stuff sack, which is internal when the backpack is in use, can sort of function as an internal pocket for coins or other small items. Literally the only other features are the zipper and a very small loop that can be used for hanging up the pack on a hook. No other tie loops or pockets.
It would simply not be possible to design a backpack that weighed less or stored more compactly than this one. If you absolutely need to save space and weight, or if you just want a backpack that can be carried in your pocket with room to spare, this is the (only) pack for you.

Comments about Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Packable Day Pack:
This is an amazing Bag, I bought it just to use as a day pack but turned out that I could use it for nearly everything! you can use it at school, as a day pack, or anything else. This bag is super durable and has lasted 10 campouts so far in 4 months. Carrying everything from camelbacks (Water Bladder) to iPhone, Papers, books and a small sleeping bag! I cant even express how happy I am with my purchase!!!!!!
Comments about Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Packable Day Pack:
The other reviews pretty much cover the benefits - it's a SUPER tiny little pack that stuffs into a tiny little pocket. So, I'm going to make a few suggestions for improvements. The little mini stuff sack that it can be stuffed into - well, it's really difficult to get it back in there. Just a LITTLE bit bigger, and it wouldn't be such a chore to get it back in there. Also - I think the stuff sack should have been designed a little differently, to make a better interior pocket. As it is, it's pretty much not functional as an inside pocket. And a pack like this really does need an inside pocket.
I'm happy with this purchase. Just a few design tweaks and it would be better.

Comments about Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Packable Day Pack:
I will use this for day hikes off the John Muir and Pacific Crest Trails. I can leave my backpack in camp and take this on my little excursions without lugging all my stuff with me. With it's Ultra-light 2oz weight and stuff size smaller than my fist, it won't be a problem to pack and haul in my backpack when not in use. When in use, it is strong enough to carry 2 litters of water and large enough to carry gloves, a wool cap, a rain jacket & skirt, a fleece vest, lunch, a camera, maps, 1st aid kit and more. This is just what I was looking for!

Comments about Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Packable Day Pack:
As other reviewers have posted, this is the best minimalist compact pack on the market I've seen. I use it bicycling when all my other bags are filled from shopping. Then I pull out the bag, open it up, and pop in the fragile items that would have been crushed in my other bags. My only gripe, and it is minor, is that it doesn't have a sternum strap. The sternum strap would be useful because the shoulder straps slip open quite often. I found a small metal S-hook that I use to connect the two ends of the shoulder straps across my chest. I carry said S-hook separately from the pack because I don't want it puncturing the fabric. A plastic S-hook may be safer.

Comments about Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Packable Day Pack:
I took this on a two-week trip to russia. It was great for carrying a jacket, camera, water and maps around the city --and I could fold it into my pocket and avoid long lines to check bags at museums, etc. It was also useful to have on hand for carrying purchases without being burdened by a big bag.

Comments about Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Packable Day Pack:
Great tiny pack. Nothing else comes close to this weight. Someone complained about difficulty stuffing the pack back into the tiny sack. I thought I wouldn't be able to put it back myself, but there was actually room to spare once I got down to it.
Only complaint is that the plastic material is kind of noisy, but not a big deal.
We use it when we travel to leave the heavy bag in the hotel and take the necessities for the day with us.

Comments about Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Packable Day Pack:
This pack is awesome! it fits right in your pocket when compressed!
I first bought this for use as a daypack for my long backpacking trips. Now, I use it everywhere I go, even if it's riding my bike to the grocery store. It has great capacity and can hold heavy items. When I backpack and use the ultra-sil for a longer than usual day hike, It carries my hydration bladder, snacks, lunch, stove and cooking supplies plus extra clothing. My only suggestion would be to fix the shoulder strap fasteners, when carrying heavy loads they tend to loosen. Easy fix with some locking quick release adjuster.
