I use this when I go to Roatan to go SCUBA diving. I wake up in the morning and strip down and cover myself in it. Then I can walk to town on the beach and the mosquitos and sand flies do not bite me. Then I reapply it after I get out of the water from diving. Then I put it on again at night when I go out. If I miss a spot on my body, I will get a bite. This stuff really works in areas that have large amounts of mosquitos. Remember to put it on inside of elbows and behind the knees and on the face. You will be happy you did. Sometimes I worry about the use of such a strong chemical on my skin, but it is better than getting Malaria. I've used this for several years and I have no side affects.

Had REPEL DEET free ready for a trip, we were taking B1 supplements before and during. Added the Jungle Juice just in case since we would be visiting rainforests, cloudforests and beaches. Online sources say 4-6 drops would be more than enough-- "a little goes a long way." I got bit, started stacking REPEL AND JUNGLE JUICE and still continued to get bit. Either I needed to be more liberal with the Jungle Juice or it just didn't work. Ended up with 20 bites-- to be fair, I have always been a tasty bite to the mosquitoes in Central America and various other locations in Asia and Europe.

This works!

Used this in the High Uinta Wilderness in Utah and the mosquitos had just hatched. This stuff works! I found that one should be liberal in its use and application. I really liked that my skin did not feel oily, Jungle Juice is a lot like baby oil, feels oily at first but doesn't have an oily/greasy residue and I didn't smell like bug spray (like the rest of my group!). I also found that the Jungle Juice didn't repel the mosquitos, meaning there were still plenty buzzing around but it did repel them from landing and biting. I'd use this in combination with citronella - the citronella will keep them away, and then if that fails, the Jungle Juice will keep them from biting. I highly recommend this stuff - I have since bought more!

Keeps Away Evil

I bought this for a camping trip with my friends. I love wearing shorts and the mosquitos like it too. Anyways it really does keep away bugs. Bugs don't want to mess with you when you are blessed with the Jungle Juice. I totally recommend it. I prefer this because I can apply it- rather than spraying it because the spray can sometimes get into the mouth, eyes and even accidenlty on others or food. A little does go a long way. I also don't recommend kissing people on the parts where they applied this Jungle Juice because it is supper strong and will make your lips numb for a little bit.

It will keep the bugs away but will ruin ur stuff

We used Jungle juice while camping in the Grand Canyon and the Atchalfaya basin in LA. Yes, it keeps the bugs away, however the cap come off too easily and we accidently spilled it on a chair and floor in a house we were renting, and it completely ate through the finish on both. It has me questioning if this product is really safe to put on your skin if it just chews through plastic in a matter of seconds. While it will keep the bugs off, you should apply outside away from anything it could damage.

Strong, effective, DEET!

I've been using this product, and the REI-branded "Jungle Juice" for over 30 years. Nothing beats DEET for effectiveness and in the situations where you absolutely must use the strongest repellent, this is the one. In lesser situations, lower concentrations of DEET, such as that in the time-released Ultrathon, are excellent, too. With DEET, do your very best to keep it off your backpack, your plastic watch band, the plastic and rubber on your boots, etc... because it degrades them.

Best insect repellant ive used

As a scout in the woods most of the time with my boys have used many different kinds of insect repellent from picaridin to DEET even a hundred percent DEET from Walmart in a spray repel brand nothing touches this this is like an oil that you rub on your skin. Just cover the areas that are exposed and I go down onto my socks have a little under any Panther arm legs and I did not get a tick or a mosquito bite while using this product. The only caveat is it says about 10 hours of protection and I replaced it due to sweaty situations about every four.

This is the best!

Moved from California to Arkansas in May 2010 ... fighting off the critters (ticks, chiggers, etc.) with all the other brands.... finally found my Jungle Juice lotion while unpacking... this stuff is amazing and works better than all the other stuff I've tried... Non-greasy, rubs in easily... put it on after every shower faithfully... I'm a happy camper now... will be ordering a supply!

Dilutes well with coconut oil

My husband and I traveled last winter to Thailand and Cambodia with carry-on luggage. Airline restrictions on carry-on liquids meant that carrying a several-month supply of insect repellant was impossible – need that allowance for contact lens solutions, medication, etc. I took along an empty squeeze bottle, and bought plain, unscented coconut oil in the market for a couple of dollars. I added a little Jungle Juice, then coconut oil for about a 15% concentration, leaving room to adjust the concentration. My repurposed squeeze bottle originally held Boston contact lens solution, relabelled of course. As noted by others, some plastics will degrade in contact with DEET, so choose your squeeze bottle carefully. The screw-on caps on the Jungle Juice stayed put – much better for our needs than a spray pump. In Cambodia, there was an outbreak of Dengue Fever, plus the usual malaria risk, and I used this solution day and night. The mosquitoes stayed away, which is saying a lot because I usually get more than my share of bites. Plus the coconut oil left my skin feeling great, and there was no annoying added fragrance. The small container fit in my handbag and I reapplied as needed, every 4-5 hours. Just be aware that coconut oil solidifies at cooler temperatures. Also sprayed some of our clothing with Sawyer's permethrin – very effective for a few weeks. Wish that the concentrated soaking solution was still available, which would be less bulky for airline carry-on.

Put to the test in Thailand

Works well, used this for 2 weeks in Thailand and just got a few mosquito bites.Only warning: After about a week of use, myself and 2 other people who were religiously applying the DEET began to have very strange dreams. Apparently this isn't unusual. Within a day of not using the repellent we were back to normal.
