Trail-worthy and pavement-savvy, the Novara Tractor 24 in. bike boasts a 21-speed drivetrain and a 80mm suspension fork.

  • Nimble 6061 aluminum frame is lightweight and durable, making it easy for kids to manage
  • Spinner Grind suspension fork with 80mm of travel soaks up the bumps, helps maintain control and reduces arm fatigue
  • Smooth Shimano derailleurs and the 21-speed drivetrain give lots of gear choices to tackle the ups and downs
  • Powerful, trustworthy Tektro linear-pull brakes are easy to use
  • Tough multi-use tread design on the Kenda tires rolls smoothly on the pavement and hangs on tightly in the dirt
  • Quick-release front wheel makes it easy to transport the Novara Tractor in or on top of the car
  • Rear moto-style fender and front down tube deflector help keep your kid somewhat clean and protected from flying mud!

After an initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly.       Bought this along with the Moxie, both my son and daughter LOVE these bikes. These were their first "real" bikes with gears after riding your average kid single speeds. They are a little heavy, but ride smooth. The REI store put them together and we have had no issues with brakes or gears. They appear well made and solid and I expect them to last for several years until they outgrow them. I am not a big fan of twist grip shifters, but the kids learned them quick and they have been shifting with no problems. The black and red combo looks sharp. If my son could drag this bike into his bed and sleep with it he would. Very good value for the money.

        Bought this to reward our son's straight-A's. Go, Ben!

        It's his first mountain bike and well worth the money. Plenty of room to grow into it.

        Only down-side is that the angled top tube on the frame makes it difficult to get onto our Thule hitch rack.

        Otherwise loving every aspect of this smooth-riding, off-road fun-machine.

          Good first derailleur bike for my kid(s). Durable, but heavy. If I was buying again, I would probably lean towards a Specialized Hotrock, which foregoes the front gearing in trade for some other slightly more refined components.

            My husband and I bought this for our son as a gift for his 11th birthday ... we gave it to him a week early to enjoy a little bit more of summer. (School starts a couple of days after his birthday.) He LOVED it! Rode it right away, rode it at 6:00am the next morning, and he and my husband took it for a rail trail ride that mid-day. We don't know a lot about bikes, but enough to know this is a winner: solidly built, cool for boys, easy to ride, just a delight. [...]
