Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:
I purchased a 2009 Tusk 60m (yellow) in spring of 2009 with my REI dividend. It was my first Mammut rope and I've been very pleased with it. I climb three or four times a week in spring/summer/fall and less frequently in the winter. I've been using this as my primary rope for a year with much of that being lead climbing and taking falls on it. It's held up very well and still has a good feel to it. It's a bit fuzzy but not anymore than I'd expect for a well-used rope that's a year old.
I'd buy it again without hesitation.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:
Bought this rope (blue, 70m) earlier this year, so I haven't had a chance to try it out a whole lot or use it ice climbing yet, but my initial impression from a couple of sport climbing outings is that this rope is an awesome combination of feel and stiffness.
As others have noted, this rope is slightly stiffer than other ropes I have used, but really like how it clips - not a wet noodle like some super soft ropes - as well as how it feels through a belay device.
I find its weight and 9.8mm diameter to be a good compromise between a super lightweight really thin rope that I wouldn't trust for crag sport climbing, while still remaining light enough to be used for multi-pitch or alpine routes.
Bottom line - awesome rope for someone like me that wants a single rope for sport, trad, ice, and alpine climbing who can't yet afford to diversify my rope quiver.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:
I had (and liked) the Mammut Matterhorn rope prior to the Tusk (I have the 2009 version (yellow)). The Tusk is EXTREMELY stiff and it frayed quickly (I had to cut 6' off the end after about a 10-15 days of use).
It is a monstrous pain to belay with.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:
I've been using the Tusk for 13 years now (not the same one!) It has always been a great rope. I like the 70m for cragging and can sometimes get 2 topropes going on the same rope. The 70m is also great for linking pitches on longer routes. The stiff hand is sweet for clipping on harder sport climbs.

Have used the rope for the past month. It's a good rope (light and still feels strong) although it gets dirty real easy.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:
To be fair, I haven't had a ton of chances to use this rope yet, but I'm very pleased with the purchase. I've been climbing indoor-only for about 10 years, and this was my first plunge into owning a rope (odd, I know). I've taken it outdoors a few times now, and I've loved it. I'm definitely satisfied with the purchase, as it is lightweight, eases through gear without feeling you need to work too hard to belay, and is very resistant to weather. Some might think the extra 10m is a little much, but it seems better to me to have too much than not enough.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:
Have used this rope for ~ 8 months and I love it. It doesn't pigtail much and is light for its length. The only thing I don't like about it is the middle mark, which is extremely hard to see.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:
I bought this rope and went to Joshua Tree over Christmas. We did two climbs in a single pitch that would have been two pitch or hanging belay without the extra 10 meters. The low friction of the rope across the rocks more than makes up for the stiffness. I am buying the same 70M rope for my second rope.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:
The rope is still kind of new but it handled all the routes up to 5.11A very well at Joshua Tree over Christmas and was not a big burden to get to the climbs. The extra 10m of the 70 m rope is amazing. We would have had to double rope or climg to an anchored belay a couple climbs without it.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:
I posted a review about the useless middle mark before I had a chance to use this rope. I've dragged it over a few thousand feet of limestone and it has held up well. It has a nice hand. If you buy the yellow rope the middle mark should be perfectly visible. It does seem to collect dirt a bit faster than most. I think there are many other cheaper options in this size and length though. At the end of the day if you like a more cable like hand, you will like this rope but I don't think it is worth the price.
