Comments about GSI Halulite Ketalist Cookset:

The GSI Soloist did not work out, for me. The instructions packed inside reported the lid would not withstand the heat. The overall size was big for the outside side pocket of my backpack. I never used it.

However, the form-factor and overall dimentions of the GSI Ketalist is perfect for the outside net pocket on the back of my backpack.

As far as I am concerned, GSI has "got it right" with the Ketalist and the Minimalist.

        I purchased both.

The Ketalist has no sharp edges, reported about other types of tea-kettle.

The Halulite is a proven product. I think I could have problems with hot water deposits over time, but I will find out how to remove mineral deposits. There was no mention of this, in the instructions packaged in the box. GSI, however, is an excellent company, and so, I can expect help.

I like the fact, the GSI Ketalist and the GSI Minimalist have provided for add-hot-water meals, I have learned to love with "freezer bag cooking" because the bowl, neoprene and mug with lid, nest, making a container for insulated rehydration of backpacking meals in single portion: 14 oz.

The, 0.6 L capacity, GSI Minimalist has an insulating neoprene and lid (removable, washable silicone edge on the lid) to withstand the heat of preparing hot water used as directed.

I appreciate GSI providing for protection from soot, as well as, keeping everything together in one place.

This fast-heating, durable cookware is well-suited for my lightweight backpacking style.

        Thank you, GSI.

Comments about GSI Halulite Ketalist Cookset:

I took this kit backpacking over the weekend and it worked great for boiling water for our dehydrated meals and for our morning coffee. My only complaint is that the kettle handle insulation does not withstand the heat produced from backpacking stoves well and tends to melt if you use high heat or if the wind blows the flames up the side of the kettle.

Comments about GSI Halulite Ketalist Cookset:

Just bought this cook set for lightweight backpacking to prepare oatmeal, instant potatoes, grits etc. I love how everyhting fits inside itself for easy transport and it comes with the bag to keep soot from getting on your other gear. I've only used this once so far but the water boiled real fast thanks to the halulite and pouring hot water is easy thanks to the design. Overall a great product for anyone looking for a lightweigth cook set and an easy way to boil and prepare meals only requiring hot water.

Comments about GSI Halulite Ketalist Cookset:

I've been meaning to write this review for awhile! Last year I really got into rock climbing and it necessitated a lot more backpacking than I've done before... and backpacking camping. I've been purchasing lighter camping equipment designed for backpacking throughout the year and one of my first purchases was a cook set.

After scouring the REI and GSI site I made my way to my local REI store to tinker with the various nesting systems and decided on the Ketalist Cookset. As light and obviously convenient as the other nesting systems were (including the Dualist)- I knew that I really only wanted to carry my own gear since I had started doing some hikes solo (or at least, as the only person I knew!) and because most of us are pretty independent when it comes to packing for our trips. When I laid eyes on the Ketalist- it was perfect! Everything one person could need :)

I've used this on a few trips now and I still love it. The kettle makes for tidy pouring and it boils water very quickly. On the last day of one trip we escaped a downpour and I didn't have a chance to clean the set- then I forgot about it for almost a WEEK. No rust, nothing. Cleaned up perfectly! The kettle is pretty adorable looking sitting on the stove and I've had quite a few people comment on it- making it a great icebreaker a few times now when I didn't yet know anyone else on the trip.

Comments about GSI Halulite Ketalist Cookset:

This is a great cookset, but the first time i used it was on a Boy Scout trip and we had to cook over fires instead of using stoves, and it melted the rubber grips on top. later I reread the warnings on the instructions and it said that it shouldn't be used for fire cooking, but other than that its great!

Comments about GSI Halulite Ketalist Cookset:

I just used the Ketalist on a 3 day backpacking trip with my Boy Scout Troop. This worked out Great. It was the best water boiling pot on the trip. I originally bought this when I thought my wife was going so she could make "proper" tea on trail. I still took it as my primary cooking kit for me and my son. It worked out great. The wide base made it very stable. The handle stays up the entire time. Pouring boiling water with the spout was so much easier than trying to dump water out of a pot. I did bring an extra mug and spork but we shared the other things and had no problems with our meal plan. It is the perfect cookset for any dried food. Very compact and light weight.

Comments about GSI Halulite Ketalist Cookset:

I use this kettle set every trip. It seemed a little over kill at first because there is no reason you cant just boil water in your pot for a drink, however I never end up not using this thing. I find having a nice hot drink outside to be really refreshing and fun, and having this little kettle along is really really worth it. I suppose if you wanted you could just roll with the kettle alone which was not available all by its self when I first purchased mine, but I find my self using all of the kit every trip. It is a bit bulky so it might be less favorable for ultraminimalists who would rather have a snow peak or beer can pot, but I have heard of people carrying just this for their boil meals and water sanitation. If you like roll heavy and you cut on weight in other places, this kettle makes a nice addition to your pack, and to me worth the weight of having something that boils water well besides your potentially grimy pot. Thinking of a stainless one for my bug out kit.

I know far beyond doubt I will never think like that when it comes to this product. I absolutely love it. Go get-choo one.
