Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint Multisport Shoes - Men's:

I was skeptical, but willing to give them a try. After wearing them around town and on a couple of short hikes, I took them on a 30+ mile hike in southern Utah. Not a single blister and my feet felt great! Walking across slickrock was almost too easy, like having suction cups on my feet. When splashing through creeks, they drain quickly and dry out fairly soon. However, sand and small pebbles collected in the toes, requiring me to clean them out every couple miles to avoid irritation to my feet. I would not use this version (the Sprint) for hiking through sandy places, but recommend the KSO version instead. Other than that, these are fantastic and fun to wear.

About sizing: I would highly recommend going to a store and trying different sizes. My friend and I both wear 10.5 size shoes, but wear different sizes of Vibram Fivefingers. I wear a 44M and he wears a 42M. It really depends on preference and how snug or loose you like your shoe. Go to a store and try them on before purchasing and get a KSO version if you are hiking in sandy locations.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint Multisport Shoes - Men's:

I have been running barefoot for a few weeks now and decided that I should give these shoes a try. Everyone who has used them give them rave reviews. I personally think they are still to restrictive for "barefoot" running. If you've run barefoot, you know what I'm talking about. I'm sure for those who have transitioned from shoes to these find them amazing.

I feel that you are forced to keep your toes spread. When barefoot running, your toes have a different spread. Your toes move how your body wants them to naturally move. The Vibrams force them in a particular way, just like a shoe. Sure you get more foot freedom but they still feel restricted. I know i'm going to get a lot of negative feedback for this BUT jog barfoot and you'll see what I mean.

Others have also said that you feel every rock and crack and all stuff on the ground, which you do but it doesn't hurt as much as jogging barefoot. They do offer great protection for the feet. If you've jogged barefoot these shoes are like heaven when stepping on pebbles or sticks. You won't feel a thing.

If you've jogged barefoot, I would not recommend the shoes for you. If you haven't and you're looking to transition into "barfoot" jogging but don't want to go real barefoot, these are great.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint Multisport Shoes - Men's:

First off, I'm not sure about the guy that jogged barefoot before that didn't like them. I grew up in "the country" and subsequently rarely wore shoes at any point, which of course continued as I got older. I literally freaked myself out the first day wearing them as I forgot I had them on. Not like "haha just an exaggeration," but seriously along the lines of "what is this on my foot?!?" before I remembered putting them on.

Have not, ever, had a "shoe" that emulated the barefoot experience so well. I wear these things absolutely everywhere - they are house shoes, workout shoes, free-running shoes, rock climbing shoes (contrary to popular belief), and as long as you remember to wash them with hot water and a bit of bleach occasionally they do not smell and so far have been utterly amazing. Whereas you feel a sense of relief taking "normal" shoes off, these you will want to keep on.

For performance, the only grief I have is that sometimes you will get a particularly rough rock that you will perfectly step on with the "arch" of your foot, and it will hurt. But this happens barefoot too, so just keep that in mind. Other complaints might be that your feet can get sweaty in them if it is hot outside and not windy.

You also have in-freaking-sane traction if you are used to running / moving on the balls of your feet. I seriously think you could be running on wet glass and stop dead without falling if you flex your toes up - the shoes have miniature grooves that appear that stick like glue.

And don't get me started on climbing things, these shoes would make Spider-Man think his powers were lame and he would probably cut off the feet part of his costume and replace it with Vibrams.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint Multisport Shoes - Men's:

This product could not be better. I use them for everything: running, hiking, kayaking, ect. I have had mine since I first discovered them in 2008. Since then, I've used them regularly and they are still in good shape. Some research shows that running barefoot increases speed and does less damage than running with shoes. These bridge the gap by allowing a barefoot feel, while protecting the foot from sharp objects. The only down side is that after a while they begin to smell, but they are machine washable, so it is not a big problem.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint Multisport Shoes - Men's:

A co-worker of mine bought these and I made fun of him. After awhile, I started to get curious and did some research and decided I'd see how they felt. The moment they were on my feet I realized I'd been wrong. These are the most comfortable, freeing, natural feeling shoes I have ever worn. I can feel the ground under my feet. I run faster with less joint pain (knee surgery), can manuver quicker and all around enjoy them. I've used them for hiking, running, yoga, basketball, and generally wear them around the house.
However, do not play soccer in them. Although it feels natural, you will be the only one wearing them and if you get stepped on my a cleated foot, not only will it hurt, but you can rip the seams in the toes. Other than that, I love them.
And as noted earlier, you will forever be hounded by questions. I say their worth it.

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint Multisport Shoes - Men's:

I bought the Vibram shoes after reading "Born to Run" and deciding to learn Evolutionary Running.

AFTER ABOUT SIX WEEKS of wearing these shoes I consider them the most comfortable footwear I own. Ordinary shoes are now something I try to avoid. My former running shoes with all their padding have been demoted from most comfortable to least comfortable.

FITTING. Choosing the right size was a little tricky. I followed the fitting instructions exactly and concluded that I was midway between sizes 44 and 45. However, both pairs were too small, I settled on a size 46. The heel and instep adjustments made it possible to get just the right fit eventually.

QUALITY. Construction of these shoes is simple, and the quality seems good. I think they will last a long time, even with running.

ADJUSTING TO THE SHOES. Adjusting to the shoes is relatively easy, although I still sometimes have trouble getting all toes into the right pockets. Changing running style to run in these shoes takes some real effort and persistence. The shoes force one to run on toes.

RUNNING on one's toes is an entirely new experience for a heel strike runner grown to like expensive padded running shoes. I have run for forty years as doing heal strikes.Although the Vibram shoes were comfortable from the start, there was some minor chafing around the toes when I started running in them. I had to learn to run all over again by running only a mile at a time. Now I am gradually increasing the distance and beginning to get the feel of the different style known as evolutionary running.

ONE DOWNSIDE of the shoes: The thin soles transmit a lot heat from hot pavement. After about a mile I can feel the hot pavement all too well, and so I simply avoid running on hot asphalt on hot days.

OVERALL ASSESSMENT. I am highly pleased with the shoes and delighted to move into jolt free toe running. It will take some time, but I am sure it is worth it. The Vibram shoes make it easier. And the shoes are exceedingly comfortable for general wear.

first off if you buy these the rest of the world and their mothers will ask you stuff like "what are those" and "are they comfy" don't say I didn't warn you...

The shoes themselves are great I have had mine a week now and my feet aren't sore at all I have played frisbee and biked in them as well as walking on and off pavement and they work well for everything, I also plan to use them as in camp shoes when I'm backpacking.

they are comfortable and breath very well no sweat here (but I do live in the PNW so I haven't used them in heat yet)

all in all great walking shoe with a twist

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint Multisport Shoes - Men's:

If you are looking at VFFs then I expect you have some idea what they are all about so I wont repeat other reviewer's comments.
I will say that my experience, between the KSO and the Sprint, the soles are thinner on the Sprints which is closer to barefoot in sensing the pavement. The KSOs afford more protection and are designed for a bit more rugged terrain.
Recommendation: Do not transition to these if your goal is to then transition to barefoot. Better to ease into barefoot running to learn the proper stride and then choose the VFFs if you prefer the foot glove it provides.
I train barefoot periodically to learn and maintain the proper stride. But I prefer to run in the Sprints. Just completed my first marathon in them. Smooth and sweet!
Sizing: I got my a bit longer thinking loose might be better. I have since adjusted them to be more form fitting. No more blistering.
Finally: Don't be an overzealous dope (like me) and decide you can maintain your running schedule and just switch to bf or VFF. you MUST learn to run again, slowly, in shorter intervals.

I bought My mother pair of these (womens) a few years ago. she wears them all the time. Walking the dogs, traveling, digging clams... ...all the time.

I finally broke down and got myself a pair last summer. I have yet to use them hiking and can see getting debris inside the foot, however KSOs would solve this problem. I have worn mine with injinji's too. This cuts down on the debris. I LOVE them in the boat. Great traction wet or dry, and when sailing on a boat that is slapping the tops of swells traction is key. I love them

Comments about Vibram FiveFingers Sprint Multisport Shoes - Men's:

This is my first pair of FiveFingers. I love them so far and I'm already planning on a second pair. I did run into a small snag, seems as if my little toe (pinky) is a lil larger than normal. The toe layout/profile is a natural curve as assumed, seems as if my toe layout/profile is a bit more straight as the shoes are curved. On the size chart I'm a 10 7/8" size, which falls between a 43 and 44. I went ahead and ordered the 44's, but found out that they were clearly too small. Drove over to my local REI location and tried on the 45 and 46. Turns out due to my pinky toe, I had to get the 46's, that are 2 hole sizes from my "Chart" size. My pinky toe is the only toe that completely fills up the toe slot on my Sprints. All the others have a small space from the tip. This leads me to believe that it is my foot structure that makes the odd fit, not the shoe. So when you purchase you're pair, understand every foot is different and they might fit you a bit better. Strongly suggest to hit the REI store first and try them on first, or if you can, order 2 or 3 sizes and simply return them when you find you're fit. So far I've taken them on a Trek, Walk, and to the gym. So far so good, next month I will be taking them to the Bahamas to water test and water sport test. Don't hesitate to grab a pair, they are great and they are exactly what I thought they would be. Enjoy!
