Vibram FiveFingers Bikila running shoes are designed specifically for a more natural running experience, offering barefooted feel and efficiency with the protection and traction of a Vibram sole.
- Thin, abrasion-resistant polyamide stretch fabric fits low on feet and offers quick-drying comfort; breathable stretch-mesh panels keep debris and grit out
- Individual toe slots enhance dexterity, control and stability to deliver a natural running motion; thermoplastic urethane toe bumpers supply enhanced protection
- Instep straps secure with a rip-and-stick closure to provide a secure, supportive fit; padded collars up the comfort level
- AEGIS Microbe Shield® antibacterial treatment helps deter odors
- Dri-lex® moisture-wicking nylon covers a 3mm polyurethane insole to provide comfort and cushioning underfoot, especially under the ball of the foot

This has been a great product and I have really enjoyed using it. They are great for road dunning and well managed trails. The only problem I have had with this product is when trail running they are susceptible to thorns. But they are easy enough to pull and keep on running the Vibrum sole has a great grip and handles very well in the rain.

...more than one 10k. That is my humble opinion, and I would hope that many others would agree with me given the price tag on half-decent running shoes.
Unfortunately, the Bikilas fail to meet this demand, and I was forced to return my pair after just one outing in them. I was quite shocked to see that a 10k completely on a sidewalk was able to wear so much on the Bikila uppers, with a tear almost immediately forming on the outside of the shoe.
Perhaps this VFF was not meant to accommodate wide feet. The sole design indicates this to some degree, as Vibram seems to have designed what almost looks like an arch support for "normal", narrow-footed runners. The rigid design is actually rather uncomfortable, especially on mid-to-long distance runs, but this problem is secondary to the main issue of durability.
With the arrival of the KomodoSport, the Bikila almost seems a pointless model in the VFF line, although the KomodoSport has problems of its own.
My honest opinion is that running enthusiasts looking for a good VFF should skip the Bikila. It may be one of the cheapest VFF models, but there is a reason for that...

I have gotten into poor shape, and have been trying to work my way out of that state. When I got these shoes, it was the first time that I felt like running in years. I love the way that they feel on dirt (soft) trails, and they have helped me increase my endurance considerably. I moved from walking 5 miles to walk/running 10 miles since I bought them, which feels great for an overweight middle-aged man.
Unfortunately, the shoes already have a hole in them after I have owned them for 9 weeks and put a little over 150 miles on them. Some of these miles were hiking in wet conditions, but it seems like a short life-span.
I'd buy them again, but only if the price were right.

I run 3-4 times a week 20-30 miles. This was my first pair and I liked them so much I bought a 2nd pair. Takes a bit to work up to running 5 finger style but these at great shoes

I use these to run 6-7 mile short runs to train for marathon! They are surprising comfortable. Run a little slower as I am still getting used to them, but they provide an excellent workout.

These are the best shoes I've ever owned! I wear them EVERYWHERE!!! Everyday wear is great. I work at a home improvement store and people constantly ask "don't those hurt your feet on this floor". I ask them if it hurts to walk barefoot on this floor, lol. They're great in the gym, I no longer have to kick off my shoes to do squats. I went hiking with my girlfreind and wore them on the trails through the woods, they performed amazingly. I was able to be sure footed the entire time. The only downside to them is that I can't get the smell out. I wash them and it gets better but, they still smell like I just ran a marathon through death valley :( There are sprays made for sports equipment that work very well so I'm going to try those

I wear these all of the time but I mainly wear them casually. I love the feel, the lightweight and the look. They do take some adjusting, mainly on your pinky toe because it is spaced out farther than usual. I highly recommend these for anyone. I love mine and will always have a pair.

well besides the way they look they feel really great on my feet they guys at REI told me that my feet and toes would have to get used to them but am a barefoot guy I love to be bare foot all the time and the shoes to me are great it's realy like being barefoot now I don't have to worry if I step on something sharp and they are a really great conversation starter.

I am already on my second pair of Bikilas and just went to a running store to check out some additional shoes... I ended up buying some Nike Free's, but not for running.
After running in the Bikilas for about 3 years, I CANNOT bring myself to go back to regular shoes. My gait has changed dramatically from using these shoes. Not only am I faster, but I find myself enjoying runs more and my feet love the constant dialog with whatever surface I am running on...
I cannot recommend these shoes enough. Just make sure that you get them in the right size. Happy Running!
