My son had been searching for a Timbuk 2 bag for weeks. We stopped in to REI on a lark only to see the perfect bag on a clearance rack. He uses it every day for school and absolutly loves it.

I've owned my Timbuk 2 bag for ten years now. I purchased a custom classic messenger bag direct from Timbuk 2 on a recommendation from a family member who loved their bag.

After 10 years, this bag has been everywhere with me and it still looks great. When I was in school, I'd put my books and stuff in during the week then dump it out and use it for a weekend trip bag.

I've used it for commuting to work on my bike, as a day bag when going to Disneyland, the beach or wherever else my travels take me. I've used it when flying as a carry on. It's been dropped, thrown, kicked, slid, rained on, slept on, sat on, and taken all the abuse that comes in ten years.

When pieces have broken, Timbuk 2 has replacements available for a low cost.

This has truly been well worth the price I paid for it and I highly recommend this bag.

This bag is the best bag I've owned. I've had it for almost two years now and after traveling to multiple countries and going through a year of grad school it still looks like it could be brand new.

The medium size is perfect for a student...a large might be better if carrying a big laptop. Mine fits my Netbook plus a text book or two and a few other trinkets. The only thing I might add is a mesh pocket on the outside for a water bottle.

This is an extremely durable product, I have lugged mine all over the world and it has yet to show much wear or any damage. You're definitely buying quality construction with your money, and if you can get it on sale you're getting a great return on your investment.

There are two things I would like to see added to future versions. First, some sort of loop or outside pocket for a water bottle. Second, a thin layer of padding where the bag meets your back would be nice when carrying things like books.

I previously had a different product by Timbuk2 that I wasn't satisfied with, so I figured I would trade for what they're known for. This thing is great! It has plenty of room, and is very well made. I take it with me everywhere, both on my bicycle and my motorcycle, and it stays put. I'm a big fan of all the pockets, since I am a student, working full time, and a bit of a computer geek. There are pockets for all the little gadgets, tools and cables I carry for my different statuses.

At first I was a little wary to buy another messenger bag since the one that I owned before was uncomfortable, hard to access, and had no organizer built into it. That being said the bag I had before was not a Timbuk2.
This bag is comfortable, very secure with the added strap, and has more then enough slots and pockets to satisfy most anyones needs. I'd also like to add the new Napoleon pocket is awesome. I find myself using it all the time and it's super nice not to have open your whole bag to get your high use items (such as your wallet, keys, or cell phone).
Overall the versatility of the bag is stellar. Whether you're headed to school, picking up a few things at the market, or off to work you'll be covered.

I use this on my bike and when I go places with my daughter. It's great for holding my stuff and things for her like coloring books, crayons, books, umbrella, change of clothes, shoes, snacks, etc. The strap is easily adjusted and also unclips entirely. The strap that connects across the chest is awesome too because when I'm on my bike or even if I have to bend over to talk to my daughter or help her with something, it doesn't slip forward. I've never used a messenger bag like this before, only briefcase-like bags with one single strap... this should be worn snug on your body because it will shift a little bit if you don't. Once you've found your fit, it's more of a garment than a bag.It holds lots of stuff. My only problem really was that the small, overlapping inner and outer pockets don't expand at all, so when you put things in one of them, it takes up space from the ones behind it (if that makes sense). There's a nice zipper compartment on the inside that has small credit card or drivers license/ID card slots and they hold your cards very tight, plus there's the added zipper just in case. This is not the laptop bag, but there is a separater panel inside that is lightly padded and sort of rigid, if you have a laptop sleeve or an old shirt or a scarf or something... wrap it up and put in there and you're good. I might even get some velcro straps to do a little modification to keep it closed (not like it would slip out, the thing has velcro to keep the flap shut and two heavy duty clips). It's waterproof, which is great, and it has a little strap for your rear light. I hate how trendy messenger bags are, especially Timbuk2 and Chrome, but I completely understand why. These things are great. Originally, I wanted the Orange/bright orange/orange color [...], but I'm sick of ordering stuff online so I went to REI and found this silver/orange/silver. I like it. I wanted a bright orange to make me more noticeable to motorists.
