The new Therm-a-Rest Luxury Map regular self-inflating mattress features an improved sleep surface that uses variable densities of die-cut foam for support and warmth where it's needed most.

This series is created for campers whose greatest interest is sleeping comfort; perfect for car campers, family campers and base campers
In desiging the new pad, a digital pressure mapping technology was used to analyze a range of body types in varying sleep positions to identify common areas of pressure
To reduce pressure (sore spots), foam padding is die-cut in high-pressure areas (such as hips) to decrease the foam density, hence softening the pressure points for comfort
In low-pressure areas (such as knees) full-density foams provide increased cushioning, support and warmth where it's needed most
Covered with stretch knit polyester fabric to increase comfort; durable non-slip textured polyester bottom keeps pad in place

This pad is absolutely awesome!! I would give ten stars if allowed. I'm old enough (57) that the ground was feeling awfully hard with my regular Thermarest. This pad is the answer. Took it on a week long trip to the BWCA and slept like a baby. Can lay in any position and not feel the ground, or any pressure points. It will work with a Thermarest chair kit; you have to insert while uninflated. Packs slightly larger than the traditional Thermarest pad. It includes a nylon stuff sack.

Make sure that you read and follow the instructions for packing. It's still easy, but you do have to approach the process differently than with the thinner pads.

Why doesn't Thermarest or REI make a waterproof bag to fit sleeping pads? It seems like a no brainer to me.

I would have gladly paid at least 50% more for this pad - that tells you the value that it has for me. It will be my camping companion forever.

AWESOME! Very comfortable. I have a pinched nerve in my back and cannot sleep on hard surfaces. After trying many different pads, this is THE ONE! I love it. It's a little heavier than I'd prefer for backpacking, but well worth the extra pound for a comfortable good night sleep on the trail. I wish it came in 66 in. length. That would drop the size and weight a little.

This thing is so comfortable, the weight penalty is something I don't even think about....instead I smile knowing I will sleep like a log when my friends bust out their fastpacking pads and whatnot. Whatever...i'll carry some extra weight to sleep like this. Very warm too. Love this thing

I went on a camping trip over Labor Day weekend up to WI. It self-inflated perfectly. When I laid down on it, it was very comfortable! I didn't feel the ground and my sleeping bag didn't slip off of it. I actually was able to sleep in later on it. It's a bit bulky to bring along if you have to make multiple trips to a campsite and does not fit easy in a pack, especially if you have a sleeping bag and a tent to carry in addition to a backpack.

I had originally ordered online, but it hadn't arrived before I was going on my camping trip. I ended up buying one from the REI store and when this came in, I returned it. This was due to the shipper since I had received the rest of my order already.

We have used this product several times while camping in Alaska. It keeps you nice and toasty all night long and is very comfortable to sleep on.

When not using for camping we have found them very useful for sleepovers when our nieces and nephews are in town.

Super comfy and big enough to roll over while sleeping without it flipping out from under me. I like that I can inflate/deflate to my desired firmness easily. Very easy to deflate and roll for storing. Fits easily in bag that it comes with at purchase.

I am a Boy Scout mom and I do camp with the boys occasionally. I was waking up with a sore back, and I'm also a side sleeper so my hip bones were not padded with the cheap pad I had. This pad is big and bulky, but a good nights sleep is worth the extra weight. It is not hard to roll up and fits in it's stuff sack no problem. Another reason I bought this pad over similar, less expensive pads is because it is Made in The USA!
