Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Men's:
This thing fits pretty true to size. It seems it's sized to fit with some layering underneath but at the same time does not feel like an oversized sack.
It is not very breathable (if at all) in spite of the claims, but I did not expect that. Been around the outdoors biz and have been an outdoorsy sort for decades and I personally know better than to expect champagne (Arc Teryx, eVent, etc) on a beer (coated lightweight nylon) budget. Quality and breathability that good are available just a rack or so down from this jacket and for hundreds more. One gets what one pays for, why is that the fault of the product?
Anyways, I was looking for something brightly colored, not too thick/warm/stiff/noisy, and something with pit zips to wear out exercising (long fast-paced "power" walks) during the dark rainy nights out here in the Puget Sound region.
I also was buying it primarily for just that one purpose and did not want to spend a fortune. This thing fit the bill perfectly! It cuts the wind completely. And, while it appears to be waterproof it is hardly breathable (if at all), so one does tend to get clammy/wet inside if it's rainy. That's what the pit zips are for, open those babies to vent the waste heat and keep that pace going!!!
In conclusion and for the price, this is a well made lightweight outdoors-purruit style jacket. It performs admirably (even if clammy/wet under less-than-ideal conditions) for its price point. Just understand that you are not getting an Arc Teryx for 1/4 the price!!!

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Men's:
This jacket is on the low end of mediocre. It does not keep you dry at all. The jacket absorbs water like a paper towel and gets you cold and wet in a matter of minutes in the rain.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Men's:
Outstanding raincoat from Patagonia. It's very breathable, weighs virtually nothing, and water beads up and jumps right off the coat. Very reasonably priced.
Good hood, good pockets, and several color options. Fits well - not to baggy, not too slim.
I'm 6'3" 180lbs. and size large actually works well for me. I'd recommend this jacket to anyone!

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Men's:
I just finished the Wonderland Trail around Mt. Rainier, and it was misty and rainy for five days straight. This jacket kept me comfortable despite the nasty weather, never wetted out, and looks none the worse for it despite encounters with abrasive trail-side vegetation. There are lighter weight and more breathable options out there, but for the price, this jacket impressed me with its durability and performance in the cold and wet.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Men's:
This jacket looks cool and performs ok as an around town raincoat, but the hood just barely covered the top of my head (and I don't have an unusually large head). I was really surprised because Patagonia rarely disappoints. Mountain Hardware makes a GREAT Gore Paclite jacket I got after I returned this and I LOVE it. Patagonia, you guys need to fix the hood and you've got a great jacket at a great pricepoint.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Men's:
I have used this jacket more than a handful of times since i bought it and so far it has done great. the other day there was a great down pour all day with 70mph winds and i was out car searching in this for a good 6 hours if not more and i finished the day nice and dry. the only downside was the zipper flap didn't seem as thought it could keep water out because the zipper wasn't waterproof. but other than that it is a very reliable jacket. i have scrapped and snagged it against doors, trees, dog paws, and other sharp objects and it has yet to show signs of wear.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Men's:
very light easy to take on and off quickly, plenty of room for insulation layers underneath, one gripe is it has no breast pocket that would be a nice touch. very waterproof, the water it beads and rolls right off. another word of warning: climbing helmets barley fit under it.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Men's:
Vacationing in Iceland in March is always a bit of a variable. Rain and wind are a threat and traditional jackets are not waterproof enough to offer real protection. The Patagonia TorrentShell Jacket, with the H2No Technology, was literally worth its weight in gold. Easy to tuck in a suitcase, it kept me dry; and my camera that was tucked underneath of it. Even the falls at Skogafoss couldn't get a drop of water through this jacket. This is a jacket that I will keep for life.

This replaced my old Helly Hansen Hydro jacket. Probably the best rain jacket I've ever had. In the summer, it breaths like no other and still keeps the heaviest midwest rain rolling right off, and in the dead of winter with a couple of layers underneath it's an excellent windproof outer layer. And when you look at what other companies are charging, you can't beat the price.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket - Men's:
I have been shopping for an ultralight rain jacket online for some time, and shot into my local REI to try on a few that I had been considering. I tried this jacket and a few comparable jackets from the competition, and I really liked the fit of the Torrentshell. No buyers remorse.
