by fromSizing is a problem The small size is too small for me and the large is too large. The adjustment bungie pulls the sweat band inside out so you need three hands to stuff it in when putting it on. I finally sewed a few spots to the rim of the hat which gets it down to two hands to put it on. The brim is a big improvement over the older floppier style. It stays put in a fairly strong breeze. It would be nice if the top of the hat would stay in shape. As it gets hot and sweaty the top tends to droop onto your head, cutting down on the airflow.

by fromCool Hat for your Head I have a problem with sweating too much especially from my head. Most times I need to use a sweat band to keep the sweat off my eyes. I have and use several wide brim hats including the Tilley hat and OR summer sombrero. This hat by far is the coolest hat that keeps my head from sweating the least. I can feel a breeze on my head when there is one, something I don't feel with the other ones. Looking up through the crown you can see that the nylon fabric is fairly transparent thus the air circulation. The hat's sweat band does an excellent job of soaking up the sweat I do generate. I use a 7 1/2 size hat and the Lg/XLg fits just right. The only reason I don't give this hat five stars is the lack of sun protection but it does not keep me from using it.

by fromGreat hat so far! I have only owned this newly updated for 2010 hat for a couple of weeks, so can't give a long-term review yet, but since there are no comments up, I'll throw out my initial observations... PROS: The brim is stiff enough that it does not flop in strong wind (and it stays on). It is lightweight and quite comfortable to wear. Pretty good looking. The brim is a bit larger than on other similar hats (extra shade, especially at the back) Size is adjustable with draw cord. Can pack flat without damage. headband and poly mesh lining wick persperation well. Fabric notes: The fabric does not carry a UPF label for ultraviolet light protection (one star deducted). The top of the crown is the main area of concern since other parts of the hat are layered. If you are bald on top, consider a UPF rated hat for a known amount of protection. On the plus side, the mesh vents are placed where they will not cause sunburn for most users. The fabric is a nylon cordura with a soft hand. It resembles worn cotton canvas. It is uncoated and breathable. Water beads up and runs off without soaking in. The fabric would repel rain well (except for the side vents). Fit notes: The L/XL adjusted to largest setting fits me perfectly. I wear a US size 7-1/2 and I like a loose fit. It could probably fit a slightly larger size with normal snugness. I intend to submit an updated review when I have more experience with the hat.

by fromLot to Like I've worn wide-brimmed hats for years and have found some good things about each one and not so good things about each one. This hat comes closest to performing as advertised. An extra wide brim for more face and neck protection, ventilation, adjustable band for the best fit and sit securely on my head. I only wish the hat had some kind of UV rating since I have a nice-sized monkey butt on the back of my head. So I put suntan lotion on the bald spot just to be sure. Otherwise, this is a really good hat for any outdoor use.

by fromREI Paddler's Hat Bought this hat to protect head, face, & neck from sun. Wanted light weight & good ventilation. This hat does all that very well. The only problem is the size. I went with a S/M based on REI's size chart (my head circumference is 22.25) but the hat does not fit properly (too small). I'm not returning the hat because my wife likes it and it fits her. Therefore, I'm ordering another, but in the next size up which I can adjust to fit. Bottom line: if you're borderline on the size (within 1/2"), go with the larger size.

by fromGreat practical sun hat. Great hat for its purpose and class. The rear toggle for adjusting the fit is a great feature. It would be very nice if the top cover could be made of UPF fabric like the WOMBAT hat that is sold. This would make it the ultimate breathable sunhat and a strong competitor of the famous Tilley hat. I hope the upgrade is heard and the change is made. Until then, sunscreen and this hat will be my faithful friend. Great buy!

by fromLovin' it but I have a ? for y'all Just bought it, and it seems awesome. I like the wide brim and how it's fairly good looking (for when I'm out with the family). I have a question: Can we roll up one of these puppies? I know we can pack em flat, but I'm wondering if I can pack it even more compact by rolling it and I'm afraid to try it and possibly ruin the shape. I want YOU to try and risk losing the shape on yours!! Somebody "man-it-up" and give it a try. Then you can let us know the results and brag how you made me look like a wus!
